No merger protection...Ha! You ALPA guys, lova ya! Yeah, first luxury ALPA contract when you experts here get your dream contract. Keep holding your breath... You'll get fine raises, retirement, healthcare, disability and surely get awesome scope. It's all just waiting. Just tell ALPA to get it for us.
Go for the money and bennies - you'll sell out for a few minor paragraphs here and there on scope which the company won't agree to on contract 1.0 (might I add intentionally). "We'll get it next time" you'll chant. Our first contract is all it will take. The phone will ring and JetBlue will say, you want to buy us for how much?! Gee golly, you can even staple our guys. Yeah I remember Midwest, Airtran! They went for the same thing! Lunch is on us!!
Poolies. Consider carefully. You're either at Delta/American/United with JetBlue stapled at the bottom if these guys get their way. They just won't rest unless they get convince you this place really sucks. Everyone else has had a perfect run up until now with their unions and career experiences - expectations have been met. But at JeBlue things are terrible and the JetBlue which you have heard about that might be remotely positive is all a guise. We've fooled the masses. ALPA is what we really need here to make us happy and enhance our customer experience. Customers will do back flips after a few years of union leadership. I see it everyday reading the airline section.

1.) A union is insurance, nothing more. 2% for the legal protections of a CBA. (McCaskill/Bond, etc.) 2% for aeromedical. 2% for the legal team in case you - or the person you are flying with dings a wing on taxi. (Not that you are planning on it, but you can't control it as an FO - and you have insurance on your car and house, right?) For you.. we'll make it just an even 2% across the board for it all.
2.) They have a fiduciary responsibility to YOU, the member. Yes, in the past, there have been balls dropped. (And that is what the legal system is for.)
3.) Management does not. jetBlue's CEO has said:

We are a public company, so we work for the shareholders.
4.) A staple job is better than 'One and out' or just letting the PEA's expire.
5.) Who do you want negotiating for you... the guy that learned to run an airline from Lorenzo? (Also, see the quote above...We are a public company, so we work for the shareholders.)

6.) Here's the serious one. (Unlike your post which was not serious at all.) jetBlue is a great place to be - it just needs improvements. We could all be a part of the '5 Values.' It just needs to be noted that the five values are a two way street - they go both ways. (Not just: We are a public company, so we work for the shareholders) It also needs to be noted that it isn't a startup anymore, it isn't a 'family.' There are 15,000 employees - 2300 of them are pilots. You will never know everyone's name. Everyone at this airline wants it to be a success - we all would like to finish our careers here. Let's make it a place where we are not continually trying catching up to 'average.' Let's be rewarded for our successes - not just be 'cost neutral.' Let's hold the company to the same standard that they hold us to - they both make the rules (i.e. the pay review process) and then when they don't like it they throw out the rules. (the pay review process) You make the union sound like Jesus Christ... the union is not the messiah. The union is insurance and an advocate that works for the pilot group. That's it, nothing more.
So, the question is, when the question comes up again... is it worth 2% to you to have insurance? Or, do you 'have yours' and expect everything to keep coming up sixes for you till you retire.
I wish I could believe that management is planning on taking care of me... but: "We are a public company, so we work for the shareholders."
And... to the poolies. Don't pay attention to all of this back and forth. When you end up on property... talk to the pilots that you fly with on reserve. Talk to your friends at the airline, your fellow FO's. And talk to your PVC rep... about all of your concerns. (Ask them about how things have changed in the last five years, about 3A, cost neutral, the retirement 'solution', the legal opinion of the 5 docs - and if they are worth the paper they are printed on, what 'none whatsoever' means, and etc. Educate yourself.) While you are at the schoolhouse... have fun, enjoy our traditions, study hard, and learn everything that you can - we have a great group of instructors.

To all the pilot poolies getting calls, congratulations! Glad to have you hear. While you maybe feeling apprehensive by listening to the negative talk of certain people on this forum, I am sure you will enjoy it here.
The vast majority of people at jetBlue want the best for the company and understand that we can't have everything we want right away. It we did then the company would end up, well, look at Detroit and you get the picture.

Yes, we could say that about 99% of companies in this country. Do management pull BS smoke and mirrors now and again? Yes, like 99% of management in this country.
The fact is, I am sure you will enjoy it here because you have done due diligence and you know what this company is about.
And I am sure you will all be moving up in seniority soon because people like Benz and Herk will be leaving to go to 'better' majors LLCs and legacies like US Air, American, Spirit, Virgin America, Allegiant and Frontier.

Regarding cars: Don't bother, if you have to spent more then $500 in gas driving up here, you may as well just rent a car from time to time, you will save a lot of $$ this way. Getting to and from JBU - hotel will take you, and there is a JBU employee shuttle, (I think every 20 or 30 min). If you need to get groceries, just ask hotel stuff, and van driver will take you. Need to go out and blow some smoke, ask front desk and they will take you to any bar you want, just call and they'll pick you up. 5 weeks goes by quickly. The problems discussed here are just typical career expectation problem for "advanced B6 users :-)", for now Enjoy your training and Welcome to jetBlue!!!

With all due respect, have you attended the course yet? I just flew a 4 day trip with a Capt. who just went through the leading edge program. He admitted that he went in expecting one thing (a charm school) and came out with a totally different perspective and new appreciation for our company and leadership team. This Capt. is not a "juicer" by any means, but having flown with him before, I could tell that the course had a great impact on him. If you have not yet attended, I might suggest signing up and checking it out for yourself. I wish FO's could go, as I would like to check it out myself. Like I said, I had flown with this guy before, and he treated me just fine. This time he seemed much happier and went out of his way to treat the agents, flight attendants and customers better. He even volunteered to do the walkaround in the sweltering heat so he could bring some water to the rampers! All I can say, is WOW!
Flame away, but I do agree that this airline is much different than others I have worked for, but that's what keeps me happy and coming back!

That's it huh? That's what you look for in a career? No mention of industry standard compensation and benefits!
Most people who are knowledgable in business and economics gain utility from tangible benefits like money. Yet, here you are full of appreciation for a helpful Captain. Tell me, what utility do your wife and kids gain from that because I'm quite sure you couldn't take that home to the bank.

What is the junior base/equip? Assuming BOS190 then JFK320? Quickest to a line? Same as above?

Jo junior will most likely be based in BOS on the 190 right now. Bottom line, plan on being based in Bos or Jfk. 320 MCO is probably most senior right now, followed closely by LGB and FLL (not definitively in that order)and then 190MCO.
