Delta Representation Discussion
#571
This is a paragraph from the Delta MEC's Vectors Email:
-----------------------
Congress Returns to “Work”: All Delta pilots are asked to contact their congressional delegation concerning the four current grassroots Call-to-Action issues: The Safe Skies Act of 2013; Stop the Creation of a New CBP Preclearance Site in Abu Dhabi; H.R. 1775 - the Saracini Aviation Safety Act of 2013; and to oppose elimination of funding for the FFDO program.
-----------------------
Was it really wise to put quotation marks around the word "Work"? We are actively lobbying the Congress on issues vital to our careers. And now this email from the Delta pilots' representatives takes a rather cheap shot at the very group we're lobbying.
This email needs to retracted or edited right away. Regardless of whether you're DPA or ALPA, this kind of thing hurts us all.

Or, it could be they return to their "work" place, after having time in their Districts, where they work also. They had a constituent work week, then Yom Kippur. The 10th through 20th is back on the Hill.

I don't like it when people simply fail to address the issues, and resort to this sort of commentary. This is about whether or not we should switch to the DPA, based on the merit of their argument.
This item is as valid an argument for the DPA as any, on the last few pages of this thread. Probably more substantive than average, actually.
Just address the "issue": pro-quotation marks, anti-quotation marks?

As far as DPA vs DALPA, sorry, but frankly I'm ready to get rid of both. ALPA has it's issues, but I haven't heard or read anything from DPA to assure me that they are not the same crap, recycled. My feeling was that DPA could have been something, but now? Their cheerleaders are just as obnoxious and annoying as ALPA's and have quite an off putting attitude.

After a rough few weeks, I just realized I'm worse off now than I was before C12.
I may get a little more money. But the minor pay increase is just not worth being required to work more. And before johnso29 jumps in--I drop as much as I can. Which is none in the summertime.
I guess I don't understand the "time value of money." But I sure do understand the "time value" of QOL.
It's OK though--"We'll get 'em next time."

Is it the PWA or is it company staffing levels? Seeing the amount of greenslips that went out this summer in certain categories and the company announcing hiring means we're short guys. Can you please elaborate on your above post. Line holder/reserve, fleet and monthly credit? Thanks.
I'm not saying Purple did or did not work a lot this summer, but if I'm senior to him, it's not by much, and I was able to drop pretty much anything I wanted, including the entire month of August. Also the source of the rant was that the new contract is what made it so tough for him to drop. That is, if fact, completely untrue. The new contract made pretty much zero changes to the reserves required/available/personal drop rules.

So again I ask the question: Was it wise to describe the Congress this way when we (ALPA) are lobbying that very body for protection against some very real threats to our job? It was clearly somebody on the Delta MEC trying to be funny and hip in order to dump on the Congress like everyone is doing now. I'm just saying it was a dumb and unforced error to insult the Congress this way when we're lobbying them.
