Do the math. $38 an hour at 60 hours is sub $30k. If people wanting this reduced hours mou aren’t even doing that simple check I’m seriously concerned. This is basic freaking common sense. That you can’t even realize it’s sub $30k is astonishing. Our FO pay is $38 years 2-5 if I remember off the top of my head.

I’ll say it again. Furlough me before concessions. If I come back I don’t want to come back to a 60 hour guarantee. I’m definitely on the chopping block.
People wanting to save a job to make sub $30k a year are delusional if they think that’s worth saving a job. You can make more money door dashing, I know I’ve been doing it on reserve.
As for medical, find a second job that offers it. Plenty of big name companies hiring part time that include benefits. How do I know? My wife just got her work permit and started her search. Can work at Starbucks part time and still get medical benefits. Do a little research on the job market. There are ways to earn money, and more than what a cut in hours would be here, without a lot of experience. Put the work in now while furloughed so you don’t come back to a job paying jack all.

That’s ok, we can have different opinions - just be happy (if that’s the right word) that the MEC stood their ground.
You’ve got to remember that a large percentage of the pilot group are young guys that are new to all of this (possibly still living at home, or with roommates or whatever) and a certain percentage that are late-life career changers that just wanted to be an airline pilot for a while. Either way, we have a lot of pilots on the property are new to all of this and are learning. I think most of us that are trying to make a living at Mesa get what’s going on. Most of us would really struggle to live on a reduced guarantee.
There’s a reason that ALPA doesn’t let first year guys vote on things. It takes a while for all of the “coolness” of flying jets to where off.

So what would be your stance on voluntary reduced lines? Say 40-50ish hour lines with a corresponding increase in days off.

Lol no, not new at all actually. IF Mesa enters chapter 11..figure out the next step then. We need to buy time right now..that’s it. If things improve..and you don’t like it then..quit..there may be other jobs available. Right now..not so much. This is a different situation than anything we’ve seen before. In addition, there is a pent up desire for travel..when there’s a vaccine..or WHATEVER..the passengers will come back..and we’ll be understaffed again (on the American side at least)..and if not..again..maybe there will be jobs available at least..if we lose the American contract..well then forget everything I said..we’ll be done anyway.
You should listen to what people are telling you in this thread. They have way more experience and long term thinking. You're not going to save jobs taking concessions. Let me say it again. You're not going to save jobs taking concessions. This is airline labor management 101.
Sept 1st: "We need concessions to save jobs, thx!"
Nov 1st: "Concessions didn't do enough, were gonna furlough anyways.
thanks for your help!"-JO
Jan 1st BK judge: "Looks like you boys make 60 hours a month, now it's 40"

To use your own point against you, the difference between the two min guarantee options doesn’t even crack a 7k paycut for the year. If you are so interested in working another job you should have plenty of free time at 60 hours a month to make 7k doing doordash while staying current.
Your hill to die on is literally less than 7k, that is peanuts and you signed up for it!
