what is your contractual furlough notification minimum? 1 month? 2 weeks?

2 weeks. So mid September would be the time to check back. But crew furloughs and in particular pilot furloughs are likely to be rather small if they still plan to not go over WARN act threshold.

During good times company doesn't provide us anything in return for profits. Our MEC did a good job this time. Alot of junior guys I know would rather get furloughed over getting crappy pay reduced down to even crappier. Full pay or furlough. Over history, concessions don't do jack over long term.
Not sure who you’re talking to. Nobody I know is willing to get furloughed over reduced line guarantee..it’s not just that there are no flying jobs..there are no jobs period. And again..it’s not long term..its a TEMPORARY MOU. Put a date on it..and go back to the table when things change..a vaccine..or whatever the mainstream public needs to get back on planes. You seriously think we will need to worry about a reduced line when the people come back? I was flying 100 hours a month until February. We need to buy time. Nothing more. You won’t quit? Why not? If you think it’s such a bad deal..you want to get furloughed?..you can sit around with no job for a year or whatever it takes? Must be in a different boat than everyone else.

Then what happens when Mesa enters CH. 11, the judge takes that temp MOU and then it becomes a starting point, not from where you are today with your current contract. You must be new to the industry and not familiar with the how the last round of concessions turned out for the industry. Airline Management always use the same ok playbook, and yet people wonder why pilots don’t learn how to play the game.

Look at our pay why are we even talking about this JO and the company are already getting a deal. Are other regionals instituting a pay cut? Why is Mesa always in such a hurry to be at the bottom.

Lol no, not new at all actually. IF Mesa enters chapter 11..figure out the next step then. We need to buy time right now..that’s it. If things improve..and you don’t like it then..quit..there may be other jobs available. Right now..not so much. This is a different situation than anything we’ve seen before. In addition, there is a pent up desire for travel..when there’s a vaccine..or WHATEVER..the passengers will come back..and we’ll be understaffed again (on the American side at least)..and if not..again..maybe there will be jobs available at least..if we lose the American contract..well then forget everything I said..we’ll be done anyway.

I am not at Mesa, but this is a very short sighted take to be honest..... You got to play the long game. If there is a pent demand like you say there is then, there will not be a need for concessions and two things will either happen still: Mesa will not furlough if they are going to need people or there will be a quick recall.

Again go back and look at history plays out with concessions to save jobs. It doesn't take long to give away the crops, but it takes a long while to regrow them...... You don't have to take from me, but others who have been seen this rodeo knows what the deal is.

Granted I’m not up on the latest at Mesa, but last I read and heard...you guys didn’t do bad on your last earnings call, pilot interviews/hiring (supposedly) is resuming soon, you have a bunch of new airplanes coming in soon, the cargo ops and allegedly some 550 flying is on the cards. I can’t see why y’all would be giving too much to the company just yet.

Sounds like Mesa isn’t in such a bad position from the outside looking in.

I’ll say it again. Furlough me before concessions. If I come back I don’t want to come back to a 60 hour guarantee. I’m definitely on the chopping block.

People wanting to save a job to make sub $30k a year are delusional if they think that’s worth saving a job. You can make more money door dashing, I know I’ve been doing it on reserve.

As for medical, find a second job that offers it. Plenty of big name companies hiring part time that include benefits. How do I know? My wife just got her work permit and started her search. Can work at Starbucks part time and still get medical benefits. Do a little research on the job market. There are ways to earn money, and more than what a cut in hours would be here, without a lot of experience. Put the work in now while furloughed so you don’t come back to a job paying jack all.
