Places like Mesa have created a bottom feeder mentality so they realize no matter how much they raise pay, people will leave. They’ve probably created a pilot group that has skeletons in the closet and can’t leave to other airlines, like someone on this thread actually admitted, and for the rest they promise big RJs and lots of flying, what low timers want right now. It would be interesting if they vote this in because the rates look horrible, a 175/CRJ900 CA should be starting least 100k during these times. They’d probably want to keep their FOs from jumping ship after 4 months too.
I know someone with multiple 121 failures who may or may not be me, and was hired at United from Mesa.
There are many factors that go into it
1. If you put the blame on someone or something else, that is not the way to go. Even if it may in fact be true the examiner was biased/unfair or the training department was horrible.
2. If it was your first 121 gig coming from a small plane. If you fail initial, it wont be a big deal. Its only if you fail recurrent that it is a big deal.
3. Having a pattern of failures. If you fail commercial, CFI, then CFII, then your MV, then fail captain upgrade, etc.
4. How much time has passed since the failures. If someone had 2 failures early in their career, then failed 8 years later after going to an A320, then failed 10 years after that upgrading to captain. Thats 4 failures, but are spaced decades apart, wouldn't be looked at as harshly.
etc.
Skeletons in your closet are not a big deal. It is how you dealt with it that matters.

I'm now a LAMA but still getting the unions emails and good lord is C.G. ever doing some heavy lifting on the company line right now. Disgusting. And don't forget 21 new hires are going to get to skip YOU in line for the 737 with this abomination of a TA. Just remember that.

Scary but great point lol. I hadn’t looked at it that way. Just his actual verbiage..the company knows they need to be competitive to survive. But the TA isn’t competitive..at all...it’s a dead end. Yes voters will collect their small increase until they leave anyway. Very few people such as those in similar circumstances to you will stay and it won’t be enough. Does he think JO will come back to the table to renegotiate after this passes? Of course he won’t. Why can’t they do the opposite of what they did during covid? Give us a temporary bump to put a band aid on the mass exodus while negotiating a contract that is actually “competitive” In my opinion that’s the only way this place lives at this point. Nobody appreciated my tree shaking and Mesa being the most decrepit branch (haha) comment but..there we have it. I hate to say it but something MAJOR needs to happen here or this is the end of the line. We’ve seen mesa in the hospital before..but this..we’re in the hospice stage.
