And how many of those are in there 50's and 60's. In my class, we had a lot of old guys. Not very many younger guys.

Theres a picture of them, mostly older gents. Can't fault them, if it's what they have to do to get to their corporate gig. All the ones I've ever talked to were doing precisely that!

Who on here has been unhappy if its a "medium or small class"? Less people coming in the door is what we need if we are to have any kind of leverage in future contract negotiations.

And this, I suspect, is the main reason the normal advocates of Mesa are now saying "stay away"!! Trouble is, THEY didn't stay away when it was good for the pilots already in place. Why do they think others will stay away for their benefit?

Are you kidding...whenever there's a rumor that there was a smaller class there's all kinds of "sky is falling", "get out while you can", "every FO at Mesa is quitting and going to other regionals" posts.

I don't count myself as a "stay away" person, but to be fair to them: I don't think it has as much to do with contract negotiations. Things in recent months have changed. Other regionals are paying quite a bit more to first year pilots. It used to be only a couple of bucks an hour difference, now it's close to $10 and more. Other regionals' upgrade times are coming down, reducing the "upgrade carrot" incentive. Mesa will eventually have to do something to be competitive.

Yeah but how long before they get a better contract?
Doesn't happen overnight.
And what is the realistic upgrade time going to be in the coming year for those hired mid 2015?

Is it worth giving up YV seniority to start at the bottom somewhere else?

If people are leaving here simply because new hire classes are small then.... well I have no words for that amount of stupidity.
