Regarding the talk about being downgraded, can mesa just do that if they don't agree with a decision you made despite your seniority and awarded position? I can't recall ever hearing this practice at another airline. I've heard of people being disciplined in other manners for jeoprodizing safety or returning to their position as an FO after not successfully completing upgrade training, but not of being downgraded for a poor decision.

I flew with a former Mesa flight attendant recently. She said the only hotel that's the same at mesa is MYR. Every other hotel we stay at is nicer than Mesa's. Our SDF overnight is downtown, their's is somewhere in the ghetto part probably.

I've probably spent a month of my life in our SDF hotel at this point, and I am 99% sure no other flight crews stay there.

I believe the FAA only recommends taxiing at a brisk walk when in ramp areas. According to the Airplane Flying Handbook, it says to choose a speed that is prudent for the taxiway conditions and allows you to stop in the event of something getting in your way. An FAA bulletin says to taxi at a fast walk when taxiways are contaminated which leads me to believe that taxi speeds when taxiways are not contaminated are above fast walk speeds.

The airline only makes money on completion factor and on-time performance. So I would say being on time is kind of important for our company to succeed. I have seen speeds in the box/release showing .62 at 32,000ft. No way in hell I'm going to fly those speeds because it says to do so. Its bellow green dot and pitch is about 6 1/2 degrees. Is it saving fuel at those high pitches angles? no. Its actually an easy way to get downgraded if we pull a skywest and get the shaker because we follow those speeds religiously. I totally agree with you on the taxi speeds and C.Y.A with the GOM.

Every other regional has improved their hotels dramatically in the last 12-18 months. We are the only holdouts still staying in LaQuintas, Microtels, Ramadas, and Days Inns in a majority of our outstations.
This will not change until new hires stop coming here, or until ALPA stops wasting negotiating capital by refusing to fight all of the stuff the company keeps doing outside of the contract.
