Any attack on Mesa would be a useless gesture, even with the leverage we've obtained. Voting with our feet is now the ultimate power in the universe....I suggest we use it.

Someone please explain this to me, can we strike or not?
*** is a LEGAL strike? are they going to jail us if we did it anyway?lol please
IMHO thats exactly what this industry needs a group of pilots to light a fire, bypass the joke of a "union" we have and make a stand instead of being slowly beaten. Maybe one day it will happen.

I agree with you completely. It's unbelievable that in 2016 our industry is being held captive by an obsolete RLA. It's a joke. The game is rigged. Id love to see a group of pilots take things into their owns hands. It would gain media attention immediately, and with that would come public support...once people realized their pilots were being paid 22 dollars and hour. With public support, changes would happen. A huge problem is pilots do not stick together. They'll backstab each other for career profession. What ALPA needs on the regional level is a Jimmy Hoffa...lol...someone with a sack who can organize and get sh!t done!!
Unless you have a court ruling in your favor, any work action or strike would almost certainly be illegal. You don't want to go down that road without a District court ruling--don't let your emotions lead you to do something you'll regret later.
Things are going to change with the union elections in March. I think we'll see some new blood and that's never a bad thing given the recent history and the TA1 vote.

If this is how you feel, you should call your reps and ask if the MEC intends to file a civil complaint alleging new hire bonuses/iPads as violations of the status quo.

You want change in your life, then make a change. Relying on others to make that change for you? That is a losers proposition. We are all payed exactly what we are worth. We choose our worth by our actions. You choose to come to work for the money paid. No new contract is needed. Only you can make a change that will favor you. Otherwise shut the hell up about it. Your problem is not my problem and vice versa. I don't buy the backstabbing synopsis, rather, it's a difference between what one finds acceptable and what one doesn't. Don't like your job? Some one else does and will do it.

Don't worry, I've made my change. I think the next six months is going to be very interesting for Mesa. I look forward to watching it play out.
Edit: On the off chance you're not actually JO/Management, please, on behalf of all of us, never volunteer for a union position.

You're up late, JO.

One of those conditions would require the MEC to file (and win) a suit in Federal District Court claiming the new hire payments/iPad reimbursements as violations of the status quo under section 6 of the RLA. And we will never, ever see this MEC/legal team pursue such an aggressive maneuver.

A strike is the only leverage we have at Mesa, but honestly there would be to many loopholes we would still need to jump through, and our MEC is just not up to the task to make it a priority. They still think they can negotiate gains from JO. LOL NOT in this LIFE! We have to TAKE IT! So go back to dreaming or better yet looking for a better job. It will be years before you see any real gains if ever at Mesa.
