And for all YOU know, he has chosen to be on reserve. Some people do. Just because one guy disagrees with me and makes you happy does not make it the norm for everyone. But hey, I only know what I read here, so my info is only as accurate as people post it.

It's probably the difference between bases. The DFW guys on reserve don't seem to have been flying as much as the IAH reserve pilots.

[QUOTE=FrequentFly3r;2065912]Not true. I'm personally going on 10 months of reserve right now with the exception of December, FWIW.[/QUOTE
Your doing it wrong. Sept 2015 hires have lines on the Ejet.

As you know, this industry is changing drastically by the day. The experience of a pilot hired 17 months ago is not going to be the experience of someone hired today.
Also, not everyone gets the EJet, so again, each person's mileage will vary.
Just putting real data out there so people can base their life decisions on what is actually happening. Realistic expectations save a lot of frustration. I hope it helps those making those decisions.

Sorry to dispute what you are saying, FHS, but to my knowledge,
Envoy has yet to put any new hires into the 175. That is "coming soon to a class near you" from what I know. Forgive me in advance if you know better.
Also, Mesa can offer something Envoy cannot... Flight time in a reasonable time frame. If a person wants to sit on reserve for a couple of years, flying 200-500 hours a year, with the chance of flowing in a few years, then Envoy is the place to be. If said person instead wishes to quickly get to 1000 TSIC, then Mesa would be a better fit.

I'm not sure why you think a Mesa pilot can build time faster than an Envoy pilot. The flight blocks are given monthly and change happens often and quickly. We had some months where the entire month OT was paid 200 percent.
I can say I and my family are enjoying not getting called out for trips all the time, but no one expects it to last much longer.

You are correct, Sir, it can and often does change, sometimes quickly. For everyone's sake at Envoy, I hope it does.
As for the why, it comes from talking to Envoy pilots, and reading these forums. I was given to expect 30-50 hours on reserve, and that current reserve times are 1.5-2 years. (Back in December and January). In fact, I had a guy tell me he blocked under 200 hours in 12 months. Now that I know what I know, I suspect he was bidding to stay at home and not fly, but will never know.
And please don't think I am in any bashing Envoy. I think they are a solid company, and everyone I have spoken to that works there were top-notch folks. But I do believe Mesa new hires will have the opportunity to fly more hours sooner than at Envoy. At least today. Will that change next month? Sure might. If what you say is true, Envoy will be flying more, and from reading the tea leaves here in the Mesa thread, the flying (well, at least upgrades) will slow down.

No offense taken.... You are pretty much right about reserve but I digress and will leave this thread on the topic of MESA.
Just curious how many reserve pilots do yall have in Dallas? Total number/percents?

That's great for that guy that you know. I love to hear that it's working out for someone. That is not the norm. Everyone's mileage will vary but the majority of reserves are not "sitting at home" not flying by "choice". They are commuting in to base to sit in the crew room/crash pad for 4-5-6 days and are not flying. They are calling scheduling begging for trips. They are logging maybe 20-30/hrs per month. And reserve is most certainly NOT just a few months. Last summer's new hires are still on reserve and will be for a while. That is for IAD and DFW. And we all know that PHX is much, much longer.

I'm a summer hire, I'll hold a line next month in IAD. May and April hires are junior line holders here in Feb.
