Translation: It motivated people to stop writing up airplanes and calling in fatigued. Fly tired and broken, write it up when the duty day stops, and fly tired because you get more money. Saying it rewards pilots for doing the job 100% is such a telling and sad statement...
That’s sad.

You really can’t stop. He said work adverse. You know the people who planned fatigues ahead of time. The people who would find mirrors that fell off…on every leg that had a gym. Those are the people that started flying. You try and make it fit your narrative so you can feel superior I guess.

Im just an outsider, but I’ve definitely flown with people who chase money, and who would absolutely kick a can down the road and write up an issue at the end of the day to make a buck rather than do the right thing. And I’m not talking about a fallen mirror. There are plenty of those types in aviation as well, and if you’ve ever been burned by flying with them (or have had close calls) then you know how creating an incentive like that could affect their decision making.

Those that still had the mindset that the war was still going on were easily identified and given two options. Some of them still thought they were doing gods work by finding gyms or pulling cowlings.
Funny they don’t seem to be pulling the same antics at their new homes.

That’s on you. If you don’t have the fortitude to speak up you are the only one to blame. If they are willing to do things suspect for a little extra money they don’t care about your ticket. When I first meet up with someone that is one of the first things I say. I don’t chase fdp and I don’t want to fill out any paperwork. I recently made a Capt that was hesitant about writing something up put his phone on speaker when he called maintenance. I spoke over him to get it on the recorded line that they were asking us to do something that wasn’t approved.

Please tell me what part I made up. I guess at Alaska all pilots want, need, and operate the exact same?? Give it a break. Why does what is going on at NJ have such a big impact on you? Why do you devote the time to keep coming back to these threads? I really want to know.

That’s one way to look at it. But people will be people, and an incentive that is at odds with making a safety call is going to affect decision making. That’s fantastic that YOU don’t chase fdp, but other people will, and that’s the problem. Someone like you won’t be around every time to put your foot down. In a perfect world, fdp wouldn’t negatively affect decision making, but we don’t live in a perfect world.
Do I wish there weren’t people that would only do the minimum regardless of the impact on their fellow workers without a $ incentive? You bet

Whew that was a close one. We’ve saved the industry.

Brake* but yeah, not going to take the bait. I’m happy to debate incentives and human behavior with the intent of expanding our perspectives, but not interested in forum bickering.
