On the calendar portion of the crewtrac it means scheduling haven't informed you of an assignment. Obviously this is for the reserves. If you see hot reserve with a check mark and the date is in the past, it means that you checked in and checked out of hot reserve. Which puts you in their Xmas list because you have followed procedures. LoL

It appears they've changed the application again. There's a new blurb about HR5900 now. It seems like they may slowly be getting ready for it.

Actually, you don't have to check in for Hot Reserve. Hot is not considered an assignment so why should you check in for it?
Reason is that if you asked for last out. You may get 5am hot. When asking why scheduling will say that hot is not considered an assignment.
They would like to have it both ways.

This is from the chief pilot in recurrent the other day. 4 upgrades and 8 new hires a month. They are planning on 1500hrs being a hard number in 2013. No grandfathering in so you have to have 1500hrs by Aug of 2013. No more hiring 250hr guys. Your probably going to have to have about 800 or 900hrs to be considered. They are thinking you will build 500hrs a year on reserve. Also if your not going to be 23 by aug 2013 you won't be hired either because you have to be 23 to get a ATP... Also, a mainline guy from the training dept. said Airways is going to be hiring the first of the year. The company can't decide on how much to hire. He said it changes daily. Anywhere from 10-25 a month. Hope this helps.

If that happens we won't get any pilots. Besides, the 1500 hr thingy will never materialize into anything other than an idea. Just like the rest rules.

Do you really believe that? I tend to have the same belief. It'll just blow over like the FTDT rules.

I dont only believe it, im 100% confident. Lets be clear, this rule will shut down the regional industry, disrupting air travel all across America, and since 52% of departures in the US are rjs, thats one big disruption. Airlines will lobby, like they have thus far with rest rules and they will get their way. Make no mistake about that. Be certain that airlines will exhaust every imaginable avenue before raising pay to attract pilots, to include raising retirement age again.

I think we will see regionals fly fewer planes (thus require less pilots) but scope will get busted so the size of "regional" aircraft will go up......let's see how the little RJs at Eagle will maigcally become big RJs. Just my prediction....I also foresee the "1500" hour rule get way watered down.

It seems as if, at PSA as least, that certain things are in place to prevent anyone from having less than 1500 hours before next August. I friend told me JB is using a matrix to see if applicants will have the time before July.
