Oh...one more important piece of advice for new hires: Bring a laptop and/or iPad to training. It isn't essential, but helps a great deal. They will give you all of the training materials on a memory stick.

Anybody know how or if they accept RW time towards total time at PSA if the FW requirements for the R-ATP are met?

Can you explain better what you are asking?

Including the folks in training, does anyone know how many pilots are currently on property?

As of the Dec 13th seniority list, 950 which includes people still in training. Over 150 of those are non-flying pilots (instructors, management, etc... ).

Attrition to the majors seems to really be picking up, especially in the last month. I would bet that more than 50% of all new hire classes from here on out will cover the attrition, and the remainder will be new growth pilots. There is still the potential for upgrades under 2 years for several more months.

Sure, I am an Army helo driver working one ratings right now. Hope to have all of the Restricted ATP requirements done by this summer. A friend of mine was hired at Expressjet with 250 RW hours and 500 FW hours because we fall under the 750 hour rule. It's up to each airline though to decide if they will count any rotary wing time towards total time. For example, Skywest will count one hour of fixed wing time for every two hours of rotary time.

There were two Army Helo guys in my class, although both had made the transition into fixed wing in the service, and both were officers.

In short, if you meet any of the requirements for the R-ATP, apply. They need people, and Army RW types are really good at memorizing lots of information. You'll be fine.

Orlando as a base? I've heard some weird rumors but that one tops them all.

Gotcha. Sorry, I was a little slow on this. A guy that was hired a few classes ago was a Marine RW guy, then went to the V-22 (still powered lift). I believe the trick was that he had to be eligible for the fixed wing R-ATP. Call the recruiters and ask.
