The actual reality is that an airplane is an airplane. I have flown Boeing, Embraer, and Beech turbines, rope start and non rope start. These iPad kids need to realize that you need to study and work hard to know the airplane. There is no participation trophy.

My first post, so was just providing what little I know.

So started this week ... how is it going? What you expected?
I have about 4 weeks to kill waiting for the class date. I had other offers that started in next 2 weeks, so I have to admit it was hard turning down offers to sit and wait it out.

I start this coming Monday. If you PM me next week I will give you my humble opinion. A large consideration for me was the ease of the commute. I can drive to both CLT and TYS as they are equidistant. I have done the crash pad and fly-in commute. Didn't really like that.

And what regionals were the others? Slow moving ones? What does 2 extra weeks do, If that is the case. Consider the long run.

Endev this monday and Mesa the following week. Is a total of 4 weeks with no pay (not that I will get all that much to start, we know that).

Yes the commute, crash pads and other, is a huge issue/concern for me also.

@Dogman - I don't know if you know about CASS. Once you are in CASS, you will also be able to jump seat on UPS and FedEx. There are a lot of guys that use them for early morning shows and getting home after all all of the PAX carriers have left for the evening. It is a great option to have, and they rarely cancel.

But expenses are a huge concern, If you have to hotel or eat out for extra days the expenses really add up. But hey.... After all we are pilots and they make tons of money!!! Well, that's what I heard anyway... ;^)

Rope-Start = Non-FADEC
Examples:
MD-88, 747-200

Non-Rope-Start = Push a button and watch the magic happen.
Examples:
747-400
Hot Start ... No worries the computer deals with it
Hung Start ... I'm just watching the show
