With the growth and attrition, I think displacements are a long ways away. Granted there will be that very last captain bid at some point where the bottom x amount of captains could get displaced by senior FOs. There's also a system wide vacancy bid once a year. So worst case for a senior FO is to wait an extra year for that bid.

Cough, entitlement, cough.
Yes. That's exactly what I meant. You're so very perceptive. I'm still hungry, though, so you got any more of those delicious words you could put in my mouth?

You can't bid an upgrade during the once a year alignment bids...

Those once a year bids are to move or equalize staffing in comparison to the needs at that time

Not weener jokes. How ever will I surpass your wit?

I pointed out that seniority has nothing to do with ability because it doesn't. I also pointed out that junior pilots will at some point be able to hold a CA seat, except for the junior pilots who were upgraded ahead of them. Since seniority is everything, I was empathizing with pilots who might be concerned about not being awarded CA for potentially a long time when their seniority might otherwise hold it.

I see why we're having this misunderstanding. I'm not talking about whether or not a regional retread deserves the upgrade in the Big Picture. I'm talking about the mechanics of the process within PSA. These are two different discussions, and you misunderstood that. No biggie... I've done that, too, and I'll do it again.

Ok, so I was reading in another one of the PSA threads (I think theres about 5 now all saying the same thing) that the SAP program is basically useless.

Like MANY others, im searching for a regional to join. Before anyone flames me for even considering PSA, the SAP program is a big reason im considering PSA. Im reading that basically they have made the SAP ineffective. Can any current PSA pilots confirm or give me an idea if this is a legit benefit or does it suck like several others are saying.

Disclaimer - I fully understand that the regionals suck, blah blah long hours, low pay, blah blah blah.. just trying to find one to get in for a couple years and hopefully get out ASAP.

Thanks!

SAP works. The biggest problem with SAP right now is the amount of time the server is taking to process sap requests. It's supposed to be an instant approval thing but it seems like its taking hours to make drops and adds which is adding to frustration. I believe the issue is technology related and if so hopefully will be fixed soon. The problem being there is a limited amount of time to SAP so naturally you want your approvals or denials as quick as possible as to make another choice. PSA has gone from 400 pilots to 1200 in a very short amount of time and what is not clear is if that is the reason why sap is having difficulties with performance.

Sap is still there. BUT, just like the critical coverage, they are finding flaws in the system and using them to their advantage, such as making more and more trips with the hidden "under 11 hour overnight" and not being able to sap into trips that they provide in open time. If you desperately need a certain weekend or days off consecutively it still will work well for your QOL, but indeed they are making it harder for all. It is definetly a legitimate benefit, and definetly is better then not being able to adjust your schedule at all. Dont let all these dudes on here griping about the company deter you from coming here, maybe they don't have much to look forward to once they are off work, so they make "work" their priority. Just fly the airplane, get your grimey check for a couple years and smile and move on.

The SAP takes too long to process trades because guys are teaching other guys to submit 20+ trades all at once. This technique is stupid and ruins it for everyone. If each individual submitted no more than 2-3 trades at one particular time and patiently waited for an approval or denial, SAP trades would process quickly for everyone.

Agreed and a majority of the trades are bogus because more than likely it's been picked up by someone else making the trade a waste of time. That's why I only do a few. I did 3 requests this SAP
