Oh yes, I fly with many guys who complain about being on reserve for a few months and displacements and I just tell them I was on reserve for over 3 years as an FO at my last job and they shut up! haha

And instead of fixing the displacement language in the contract, or talking about improving things, all of you who have been at PSA can ever do is reply back that any FO who voices an opinion is just some snot nosed brat who needs to shut up and pay dues. It's a wonder anyone is still even applying, look at the people you will get to fly with. The fact is, this industry has changed a lot in the past couple years. And it will change a lot more in the next couple. Just because it was different for you does not make a new hires concerns any less valid.

The only ones that care about getting new hires in here are people like you, most of us are fine with them parking 200s to make room for 900s which increases our pay even more. I'm fine with us being the size we are but you need more new hires to move on up. Actually the tougher time we have getting people in the door the more leverage we have so either way it works. I've never see a FNG worry so much about stuff like some of you do, just enjoy the ride and stop complaining about everything. It does get annoying listening to brand new guys complain when they aren't even good at their job yet. Do you know how lucky you are to start in the 121 world when you did?

Look around you. The world is different now.
Do everyone a favor, move up to somewhere that you are happy, or retire. Life is too short to be so bitter.
No great man, or great leader, has ever uttered the phrase "FNG". As the captain of the ship and the leader of the crew, the FOs behavior is a reflection on you and your leadership.

The biggest problem with the airlines, especially the regionals, are the jaded guys that have been abused for the last 8 years. They feel that since they got in the industry at the wrong time and paid the price for it, everyone should.

Stop pretending to be a mainline guy that spends a bunch of time on the PSA thread and knows more about our company than most line pilots.

Three quarters of the captains I've flown with are great people and a lot of fun to fly with! The other 1/4 are people who are, for whatever reason, not very happy with their own lives. Their grumpiness seems to be sometimes related to their own career expectations but more often than not, it's related to their own life choices, (outside of aviation) which have nothing to do with PSA or the airline industry. These people would be just as miserable if they had chosen a career in medicine, law, accounting, engineering, retail, government, or any other career. But NONE have been "condescending a-holes".
For what it's worth, I'll admit that I HAVE dealt with (interviewed by) condescending a-holes at other regional airlines. Fortunately, I was either not offered a job or I declined to accept a job at those other regional airlines.
I'm not saying that condescending a-holes do not exist at PSA. I'm simply saying that I have not personally experienced any.

Couldnt we look back on history and say that some of the most successful people were "entitled"?
There needs to be more "entitlement" at the regionals, especially PSA. Entitled people believe in "self worth". They believe that their day and time is worth money. The sacrifices that they have made this far is valuable. Entitled people would not accept sub-par contracts. Entitled people would not accept less than what they are worth.
The "old guard" PSA, and most of the other regionals, have no self worth. They have been beaten time and time again like a stray dog. They view getting beaten by a smaller stick as a treat.
Without "entitled" people, he regionals will exist forever. The only way that this will ever change is for the old guys to retire or to step up to the plate and realize that they have worth as well.
In short, if you are saying that someone else is "entitled", then you are a part of the problem and the root cause of the low pay and poor treatment at the regionals.

yeesh. i flew with far too many. everyone of them was mad that there was growth, that didn't exist for them. which was somehow...my fault. you are right, they were few and far between the good guys, but there was enough to leave their mark.
