I'm considering PSA and I'm going to be moving cause I don't want to commute. I realize CLT is the main base and I'd prefer to live there but how much longer is the time on reserve and upgrade time there compared to a more junior base like TYS?

Ging, i have been with PSA now 11 months since first day of training. i got in at a bad time for movement as my training footprint was about 5 months long. I am still on reserve in CLT. should be having a line next month. hiring slowed down a lot for FO's to train the new captains. starting now we are training more FO's and the movement will be much quicker. Reserve time should be 3-4 months here in CLT soon. Send me a PM if you have further questions.

Ultimately, the ability to hold any base and a line in relatively short time as an FO is the reason I am here. The FO numbers have increased over the last few classes and I have heard (rumor mill) that classes will remain relatively small through the holidays and then ramp up in January. All good news (especially for someone coming in on the front of the hiring) on the "hold any base and sit minimal reserve" front all of which is supported by PSAs desire to hire a ton of pilots over the next two years.

New to APC and looking for some info about PSA. I just returned to my ANG unit and in February I will be looking for a regional. When I say I just returned, I mean I'm finished with UPT and follow on school with the Air Force. Im really close to the 750 required for the R-ATP and was wondering what my odds are with PSA? Also, if I were to get on what are my odds of getting dayton or even CVG (I know most likely everyone will have to wait until it opens to have a good answer). Any info about these bases i.e. how long on reserve and what is the longest it would take to upgrade? Just looking for ballpark answers. Thanks.

You'd be golden for getting either base right out of training. I even think they are displacing people into those bases, especially Dayton. Idk what reserve is for new hire FO's. Upgrade will probably be two years after you go through training and get 1000 121 sic

Where is your ANG unit? I ask because if you have to commute, DO NOT commute to your ANG unit. I was hired in Aug 14, sat reserve for six weeks and am now a DAY-based reserve captain. Also ex-Comair.
DAY is not an easy commute with some exceptions. The same might be said for CVG.
You'll need 1,000 hours Part 121 SIC time to upgrade. Getting aircraft commander in your ANG unit might be equally important.
