But for now, should we just fly it and grieve it?

You're more than welcome to try it differently. Just don't be surprised when it doesn't work out like you thought it would.

You don't think the union will support a pilot who doesn't fly it and is clearly in the right?

The union absolutely will support you. The difference is it's possible they could be arguing a termination grievance rather than just a contract violation.

Is it likely they'd fire someone? Probably not, but your guess is as good as mine. Is it possible? Sure, go read section 5 of the Pilot Employee Handbook and 26.U of the contract. Would you get your job back? Most likely. In the end the question boils down to how long do you want to risk not earning an income?

When you are right you are right. You'll get your income back as well. If the entire pilot group took this same mentality, you would see immediate change. And that's my problem with the union, you are basically advocating playing it safe even though it is injurious to you. You should be telling the pilot group to be tougher, just be sure you are correct. That should be your message. I submit PSA pilots have the problems they have because they are being held back from their full potential by a union that would rather play it safe then play it correctly.

At what point did living up to an agreement negotiated in good faith become politically uncorrect to this union and its membership?

Hey maybe I'm wrong and the pilot group feels they should just cave in on demand, if so I'm sure I'll here about it. The group should feel free to chime in.

I'll say it again, your position is informed more by a lack of knowledge and surplus of bravado more than anything else.

The union is advocating following applicable labor law, but if you chose to be ignorant of that then having an intelligent conversation is pretty much impossible.

But like I've said to you plenty of times, feel free to lead the recall and/or certification drive if you really feel the need. Or heck, put your name in the hat for a rep position.

Or, you can just continue to spout off here and on JIA. Because THAT's productive.

Places like Air Wisconsin, Compass, Endeavor, GoJet, Horizon, Republic, SkyWest, or TransStates. They ALL offer better pay and benefits for First Officers and Captains,....... without gimmicky bonus schemes,...... that can be taken away any time management wants to take them away!
Out of curiosity, does PSA really pay the new hire bonus and when? After IOE?
