Quote: I've heard Republic will be out of DCA all together and PSA will do all the 70-76 seat RJ stuff out of there. I don't think DCA will be all that senior if it is a base for PSA although commuters that are currently two legging it to our out station bases would love a second hub base.
I hate to say it. But I agree. Seems like I see less and less rjet flying there since we started flying our 'larger' aircraft to DCA. But I'm hopeful for the new domicile.

Quote: I was at the meeting as well. Most everything has been reported that I heard. It was the most optimistic I have ever heard our management, if that is worth anything. I have listened to him speak several times, and this time was different. I hope that really means something. We will see.

On a side note, I did not know that 3 of the people in our top management team came from Air Wisconsin. He introduced them to everyone today.
Who were the people from AWAC? I know at least one left for PSA...kind of curious who else in case our management has not announced their departure...which I am not surprised about.

Only hope for AWAC now with AA is some flying scraps in ORD.

I'm curious how many CLT pilots would bid for dca.

I know a few that live there or nearby.

I'd guess at least 20-30 round 1 lines holders from each seat.

How far away does a 3 hour drive from DCA get you? My limit on driving to work has always been 4-5 hours. That's about how long it takes to go to the airport, park, wait to board, fly to base, get bags, etc.. But at least I knew my car wouldn't leave without me on the last day. I'm just curious as far as traffic and what not. The option to drive to work makes this a whole different job.

I know quite a few PSA guys who live in driving distance (or at least what I consider) from DCA...such as Philly, Harrisburg, Richmond...all 3 hours or so.

Even Pittsburgh is only a 4 hour and change drive.

But I don't know DC traffic. I could imagine that 3 hour drive could turn into 4 or 5 pretty quickly.

On the other hand, I drive 2.75 hours to base now and sometimes just fly to Charlotte because I get tired of the drive.

I also consider it important for a base to be in driving distance. That's one reason PSA appeals to me because I can get from my home to either Knoxville or Charlotte in 5 hours. So even on long call reserve, I could just throw my stuff in the vehicle and be on my way. It's ironic being that I'm a pilot, but nowadays I just hate to fly commercial airlines. I realize as a flight crewmember the pain will be eased somewhat but within the USA, if I can, I usually drive. Too bad there's not a suitable option for me at ATL because I can be there in an hour.

I just hope AWAC keeps their flying going so we stay away from the world. I cringe seeing 700's over there.

Can someone translate this please?
