It is absolutely possible to only work (3) four day trips a month.
A few months ago I got a 24 and a 22 hour trip in my initial bid. I traded everything else away for a single 20 hour trip. That gave me 18 days off.
Later in the month, I accepted a junior man 2 day trip, which paid 14 hours.
So, I had 16 days off and credited 80.
The benefits of the SAP. It is the greatest QOL tool in the regionals.

11 days. 99 credit.

I will agree with this.
We are really short FO's right now. So, those that are on reserve right now should be holding lines as soon as those in class get out.
Did you see the new AA fleet plan - Update of October 11, 2016?
AA is parking 8 CRJ200 aircraft and adding another 18 CRJ700's and 18 CRJ900's. Republic is losing even more flying, and the wholly owned and mainline are picking up the slack.
We have a HUGE training department. They want us to grow.

You can also typically get 15 days off and credit 80 without much trouble at all. I would say that you could do it at least 10 out of 12 months.
We also get 2 weeks vacation on our second year, and you get 21 hours credit for each week of vacation. So, you can work just 2 four day trips on two months a year if you are trying to fly as little as possible.

Not everybody SAPs, some people are happy with their schedule but it's not hard to get 15 days off every month. I always drop at least one 4 day trip and then either enjoy my week off or pick something up for 125% pay (or the occasional 150% pay).

Yeah if I was a new hire the deciding point on which w/o I would pick would be the SAP. This month I'm working 70 hours with 16 days off, fri-mon off every week except one week bc I wanted thanksgiving off. You can't really explain how good it is unless you've worked somewhere without it, where you're stuck with whatever line you can hold. It's hands down the best QOL in the regional industry.

It has been working slowly this month. The last few months were pretty good. Oh well.
I got 10 days off in a row last month, and again this month. Can't complain, I guess. Thanksgiving off as well, of course.
My goal for this summer is to take 30 days off in a row. Last 15 days of July and first 15 days of August. I want to be gone long enough to forget the ramp frequencies in CLT.

That is what I have heard several times recently. The company is having some sort of contest for referrals. PSA doesn't pay this money, it comes directly from AAG, so they are encouraging us to refer as many people as possible. The referrals are getting priority.
I am sure that your Captain friend is helping you, but if you need a good gouge, feel free to PM me. The ones on AviationInterviews are pretty good.
