Any idea why four people didn't get offers?

From the latest stories that I heard:

Showing up unprepared (none of the requested paperwork, no logbooks)

Not being professional (jeans and a polo are not a good interview look)

Being overly cocky - looking like you will be a trouble maker and constantly in the CPs office.

Not being able to read a Jepp - not knowing basic IFR rules (departure minimums, takeoff alternate, DH/MDA, enter a hold)

Lying on application.

Not being honest.

If you have checkride failures or anything bad, be able to tell what you learned from them.

Read and study the gouge on aviationinterviews. Be professional. Be honest. Show that you will show up to class with a good attitude and want to be there, will study hard, and do well. If you can do those things, it isn't a problem.

Most people failing the interviews are supposedly prior 121.

I have not. I was based there for a little while many years ago (no wife, no kids). I will definitely look into it now though. I appreciate the insight. I got the invite to interview last night, and have about 4 days to study up. I don't want to blow this interview so I may try a later date.

American just closed two wholly-owned outstation bases. It might not be wise to move to an outstation base. New hub bases could open up while outstation bases close. The opening of DCA could happen with the closure of TYS, CVG or DAY. TYS being the most likely. Closing outstation bases is a way for the company to get rid of expensive lifers because it will cause them to flow.

The company said CVG was not closing, but they did not say any of our other bases were not closing... why not?

DAY will never close. It's the mothership and they get too many tax incentives for being there.

Well if they want to be dumb enough to close TYS, by all means do it. They will have to pay a lot of money for all those crews to relocate. And most will probably go to CLT, bumping lot of folks down the food chain. But this is all a load of crap anyways. I've been hearing TYS was closing for 8 years.

Anybody know if they will interview without having your ATP written done yet? I did it a couple years back but it's recently expired and about to start sending out resumes
