I don't know about hat but leather jackets are not part of the new uniform and will be allowed.

There are two overcoat versions that each have epaulet straps. The worst part of the new uniform is probably the belt buckle that looks like a seat belt.

 

I am fond out a sweater option though.. that is nice to have in the spring/fall months.

 

Is the CVG crew room open yet? Last thing I heard was a Jan 15th date for completion.

 

A CVG crew told me yesterday, it's still not open.

 

The CVG crew room is well... You know... "Processing"

Hello All-

Could anyone shed additional light into PSA's new hire training program. Those that have recently gone through, what was your experience. Anyone been out of the cockpit for awhile?

Any and all experiences are appreciated; rigor, structure, etc...

From what I understand, training lasts 13 weeks from start to finish and all new hires moving forward will be sent to CLT for the 700/900 and then to CVG for the 200.

I went through it just under a year ago. Indoc and ground school are straight forward. Systems training is computer based (a test of patience for me) supplemented by class instruction. Simultaneously you do cockpit procedures training to establish your flows, calls and checklist usage. (Verbiage is important here) My oral was in CLT two weeks after ground school. Sim training for me was the 200 in CVG followed by the checkride. Then 2 weeks later for 7/9 differences. 3 months later I started IOE, signed off, then 7/9 differences. Finished my 100 hours of consolidation with 20 minutes to spare. Over all I felt the training was good, but the time between sim and IOE was unacceptable. This won't be an issue now as they are adequately staffed with check airman, sim instructors , and the less pilots to train. Instructors are more than willing to help if you have problems, but the info will not be spoon feed to you. Line check airman were very patient during IOE since there was such a delay between sim and IOE for my class. If you put forth the effort you will have no problems. In fact I think the less experienced pilot will benefit with this program more so then someone who will have to unlearn years of experience in other operations.

 

Just to give a better idea about the current timeline, my buddy started class the first week of November and he is currently doing IOE.

 

Same here... Buddy started in November and is now finished with IOE. I'd say the training footprint is much more "normal" now.
