EXAMPLE: If I sit HOT RESERVE several days in a month and only FLY 5 hours, am I paid for my guarantee?

EXAMPLE: If I fly 90 hours in a month and sit HOT RESERVE for 5 days, am I paid for only 90 hours of credit?

Thanks for answering.

The hot reserve periods are 0500-2300.. I believe. Cant remember exactly, but I know I had a few hot periods that took me to 11pm, because I was specifically remember begging for an early release at 1040 to catch a last of the night commute flight. But with that said, you dont go all day. There were also a lot of days where id get a hot reserve assignment but at check in time, they would give me a flight assignment. There are so many people calling out sick, repo flights, cancellations etc, they use the reserves a decent amount. At least back then... as they get more FO's on property, maybe that changes.. im not sure. Time will tell.

It won't happen, but you would get paid 90 credit plus the credit for the 5 hot days. Never, never happen because as soon as you approach 75 credit they will miraculously find someone else to fly.

More than likely you fly 50, sit 3 hot, pick up a 15 hour 4-day (because you squeezed the rest of the month to do so), and you credit just over 93 since the 4 day pays 1.25...

Default Driving To Base

I live 2 hours from TYS and moving is not a good option for me (i would be a mid 40's career changer). How feasible would it be to 1) get based at TYS after training and 2) drive the two hours to TYS long term?

Thanks for all the info.

Perfectly feasible once you can hold at least LCR in TYS... not going to be out of training. Right at a year right now... who knows what will happen in 6 months.

Thanks. Could you get TYS out of training on reserve (need to use crash pad) or are you saying that it would take awhile to get TYS even on SCR? Sorry for the newb questions.

Also, any career changers on here who is through training that could offer insight?

Thanks again.

I saw four new hires get awarded TYS on the last award. Reserve times will be longer there.

I live 2.5 hours from TYS (as do about 10-12 other people I can think of off the top of my head)

Your QOL will suck for a while while you are on SCR (as TYS callout time is 1 hour, you will need a crashpad). Like mentioned above, it could take almost a year to even be able to hold LCR and sit at home. Yes, that may change over the next few months as things pick up, maybe drop down quite a bit.

Either way, just being able to drive to SCR as a whole lot better than having to get on an airplane to get to reserve, any day.

Good luck and let me know if you need anything.

If we keep upgrading 12-14 every 2 weeks, I doubt reserve times will be very long anywhere. Looking at the FO list and subtracting 24 FOs per month, reserve should be at 6 months or less by the time that the newest class finishes with IOE is 3 months from now.

Just curious, why is TYS only 1 hour call out on SCR?
