So the company is moving the new hires to a hotel that is even further away from the training center? As much as I hated the Dayton Airport Hotel, at least you could roll out of bed and just walk down the hall and be at the training center. And yes, if you can drive to Dayton, it is worth it.

there was no drug paraphernalia found quit spreading rumors, I was standing right there when the FA found what was found, it was a bag of 3 pills that looked like aspirin and very well could have been for all anyone knew, that could happen at any hotel anywhere, who expects cleaning ladies to look under mattresses.

if you really wanted to hit your point home you'd tell the story of the guy finding a used condom in his room...

while the bedbugs are a very unfortunate thing it most likely occurred because in December the hotel hosted a bunch of homeless people so they wouldn't freeze to death not because they are a bunch of slumlords. no good deed goes unpunished.

I can tell you most likely never worked in construction as I could bet that you could pull the drywall out of most any bathroom in all of America that is at least 5 years old and find some mold on the back of the drywall from the bathroom and I would win that bet

while the Clarion was no palace it beat the crap out of the tent I slept in on deployment by a mile.

perspective.
Well for one, I expect cleaning ladies to look everywhere and clean the whole room, given that's a part of their job description. Aren't you required to look under the wheel well for brake wear? Hydraulic leaks? I'd like to think your passengers expect you to be as thorough as the cleaning ladies of a hotel room, since you want to talk perspective.

The Clarion had its perks, and given the sheer amount of business thrown their way, they had ample opportunity among multiple complaints to police up their staff. If their staff didn't raise the bar of standard, they should have found replacements, just like the airline will if you fail to maintain YOUR standard.

As far as deployments are concerned, I've been on a few too, and your comparison of deployment living to airline training is apples to oranges. The breakfast, the bag lunches, the in house bar were nothing of expectation when I came in. Nice surprises, sure. But let's be honest, you can hitch a ride to Wal-Mary and get the same processed meat and stale bread on the cheap once a week if that's your flavor.

Part of "adulting" is finding solutions to the problems at hand, not sitting back and complaining. If you know coming into training you aren't bringing a car, make friends with someone who did. Or suck it up and drive. Uphill both ways? Leave that to the Mesa guys' list of complaints.

Hot off the presses:

They literally did not have reserves for FOs in DCA for March. I suspect the company will handle this with all the new FOs that will get dumped there fresh out of training before they're able to bid.

R1 = Round 1 Award. Bid a line, then SAP to your hearts content. Your final line could look nothing like what you were actually awarded.
BU = Build Up line. Leftovers in Open Time after the SAP. Not a lot of flexibility, but you'll know your schedule in advance.
LCR = Long Call Reserve. 12 hour callout.
SCR = Short Call Reserve. 2 hour callout, 1 in TYS. Can be converted to Hot Reserve a few times a month.

As in the ones coming in before base bids or even us with bases already assigned? I'm already awarded DAY and about to start sims on Sunday. So should I be watching out for getting displaced to DCA?

Default Commuting policy

tips and tricks question for commuting:

If you are required to be "booked" on two flights before your show time, are you required to take the first of the two booked?

Ex: Commuting from SDF to DCA. Two non-stop flights but 1st is at 1205pm and second is at 730pm. Can you book on both but elect to not take the first flight. (that is a huge time difference).

What are some tips to playing the commuting game?

Thanks

What is the point of being booked for the first one and not take it? Not sure I understand.

To use the commuter clause, you have to give yourself 2 opportunities to get to work. If you skip the first one, then you are only giving yourself 1 opportunity.

They will just give people reserve trips that start with a DH to DCA. As people finish training, they will be awarded DCA. I wouldn't worry about it.

If you want DCA, you can probably have it. If you want DAY, then you will be in DAY.

No worries. Everything is two legs for me besides CLT. So things being equal I'm happy with DAY until I can hold CLT R1.

Just was making sure I wasn't going to find myself DCA based, as it's a royal pain to get to comparatively.
