I enjoy a nice hotel, but then again three deployments with one that I lived in a mud hut and slept on a cot in Afghanistan for the majority of the deployment without having a shower for 4 months if it didn't come from a water bottle the Crowne Plaza will be fine for me. As for the area, I'm just glad Ohio honors Florida's CCW.

Planning on applying for the PSA RTP program in the next week or two so hopefully by the end of summer I'll be classing up in Dayton. I'll be driving up so I'll have 5 seats in my pickup to help out anyone who doesn't have a vehicle.

I have been trying to find out more about the rotor transition program, but not too much info seems to be available right now. I believe we are taking applications now, and that PSA will pay for you to get your CMEL and ATP, and get any fixed wing time that you need. If that is true, that is an amazing thing.

Envoy already offers this, all fixed wing Training is paid for from rotor transition. Everything you need to get you from where you are at to seating in a seat in indoc.

From someone that is currently in the pipeline at Envoys RTP program, Envoy makes you use your GI Bill (which is a huge waste). PSA doesn't. That can be a huge difference.

It is a good deal, but they pay up to a certain dollar amount for training. They expect veterans to pay using their Post-9/11 G.I. Bill an additional several thousand dollars out of pocket.

From awards chart, looks like previous advice is good... CVG would be shortest reserve, but if all new hires going to DCA, how long before you could move to CVG. I mean should we look at DCA as very temporary or plan on it for awhile

We have no seat or base locks. It is likely that there will be at least 3 or 4 base awards between your first day of training and when you finish IOE.

DCA will be junior, but with so many new hires in each class and finishing IOE each week, you won't be there long, if at all.

That is the company's "Pilot Operating Handbook", but the FAA books are great to refresh knowledge before showing up for class, especially instrument procedures.

R1 = Round 1 Award. Bid a line, then SAP to your hearts content. Your final line could look nothing like what you were actually awarded.
BU = Build Up line. Leftovers in Open Time after the SAP. Not a lot of flexibility, but you'll know your schedule in advance.
LCR = Long Call Reserve. 12 hour callout.
SCR = Short Call Reserve. 2 hour callout, 1 in TYS. Can be converted to Hot Reserve a few times a month.
Hi TF
Just a couple questions. Captain in CVG is 2.4 years for a R1 line, is that 2.4 years from date of hire or is that time from upgrade until R1? Also, for FO it shows .49 until R1, would that equate to roughly 5 months from date of hire? Thanks for the insight!!
