Flow is great until it’s not. I think it’s important to note a lot of folks got out before the flow to other carriers. Be like those folks, volunteer, continue education, get in the training department, and push to get a new job before the flow, because that flow date can disappear overnight.

I'm not saying no ones goes elsewhere. I'm saying fewer. Far fewer. And that means less internal recs elsewhere. I was taking issue with the notion your chances are the same as someone from a non-WO, not that you can't. I see replies saying "you can still do it"... well yeah, but that doesn't dispute what I'm saying either.

The reason there’s so many at AA is because... there’s a flow. That’s the point.

Also I’m at a WO and I know several people at DL and FX and UA. I may not fly with them, but that’s because they left. Networking isn’t just flying with people who are about to move on. There’s a heck of a lot more you can do, just not everyone wants to put forth the effort.

If you were working at a non-WO, you would know more elsewhere without 'the effort'.

As I said, you can still do it. Your chances are less though. You guys are so blinded by your flow you're not seeing that there is a difference.

I guess internal recs depend on your airline domicile size. Doing a trip with a guy years ago doesn’t typically get a rec.

I valued flow because it helped to keep seniority moving along at a predictable pace. I never had much desire to fly for AA, I always had my sights set on the LCC's.

Yeah you'll never make mainline money, but the quality of life is some of the best in the industry.

Seniority was moving at every Regional. Did not need flow for that, almost everywhere in 2019 you could upgrade as soon as you met the mins. Going back to my original post, the negative of flow is having to accept lower pay and QOL at most WOs because of it. Management was just not willing to make big contract gains because they considered Flow a big part of your compensation. Unfortunately you are paying for that compromise now.

Who the hell cares... why are you so negative? Sounds like maybe you got turned away from the WO’s. Not everyone goes to regionals for 16 days off a month to fly a shiny E175.

I mean at least at PSA as a lineholder with SAP quality of life was pretty solid, and the pay was and still is pretty good. What burned us was that with all the movement no one cared much to fight to improve reserve since it was only a relatively short term thing to endure.

Hindsight is always 20-20, but if I could predict the future I'd just win the lottery hahaha.

The nice thing about the flow seniority movement is that it is reliably at the very top and there’s a continuous draw of people who might otherwise be lifers

that’s different from how seniority movement works at other places. Minor difference but real
