Next batch of furloughs hits the street.

It's the COMA-ir way.

Isn't the only reason Eagle is recalling because the pilot won some court case they have been fighting for a few years? It's not because of growth is it?

Hey Andy, How does being assigned a specific city work for ATC? I live in ATL. Do you think I would have to move? Also, if you know, what if you want to move in a year? Is that possible?

As far as I know, they send you an email if they like your test scores..that'll be a kind of questionnaire..and it'll have a geographical preference section. You get to pick TWO states, and two states only in order of what you'd prefer.

I don't know how transfers would work, i'm sure there's a way to do it..but that info i'm not sure about.

I'd like to stay in Georgia myself..but it's a mystery to everyone not "in the know" of how they actually assign classes. My buddy (also Comair, not quite furloughed yet though). Took his test in Jan, got his Geo pref email a few months later..got his acceptance letter in June..and just got assigned his class date this week for January..so it's a year process apparently.

Thanks! It pains me to leave flying, but as of now..all I'm leaving is a lousy instructor job.

No it's the wholly owned way... about 70 from Mesaba joining you then too... and a bunch more to follow soon with associated downgrades.

I applied for ATC, the day after my furlough in Jan. Took the AT-SAT a month or two later and then waited. About 5 months later I get the paperwork for the background check, medicals, drug test, etc. Finished all of that in a month and then just waited for a class date.

When I was at college, I did the CTI program as a backup just in case something like a furlough happened. So I got to apply through the CTI job opening and not the PUBNAT. I started at the academy Oct. 5th and I'll be done Jan. 12th. I got assigned JAX center. (enroute training is the longest) Because I'm a CTI grad, I get to skip the 5 weeks of Basics (what's a sectional, identify aircraft, etc). I think I would have gone crazy if I had to sit through basics.

I've noticed a bunch of people got the area they requested but some don't. You can turn down the first offer and hope the second one is what you want and doesn't take too long to get.

You can't transfer facilities until you are fully checked out at your current one which can take up to 2 years. Then you can put in a transfer request which could take a while and depends on many factors.

Not to mention, I couldn't get a recruiter to give me the time of day. Hmmm....under 25, 4 year degree, jet time and 1500 total. Guess they really DID meet their quota this year.
I forgot..yeah you told me that! Yeah um officer recruiters are probably the biggest obstacle of any to getting in.... They are not motivated like the enlisted recruiters. I wanted to pull my hair out those 6 months I had to deal with mine.... Good luck!

And anyone taking the AT-SAT tomorrow on long island?
