Sorry I have a real problem with working for free. I don't fly for food and coming in for 6 and only getting paid for 4 at the discretion of scheduling is a sour point with me. I don't do this for the fun of it and I have better things to do then to sit around and do nothing. I have never ever been used while sitting ready and I find it hard to believe that sitting ready is that much more of an asset then having a 2 hour call out.
Fly me all day long but don't mess with me.

You know if was my job and the job i choose to do I guess I wouldnt have a problem with it. I dont choose how you are paid if you have a problem with it go talk to someone who controls it. Why dont you come and sit with me for my 10 hour shift, and see if its worth the pay I get. However its my job and I do it.
When did scheduling ever decide how much you get paid ????????????
if I had control of it then surely no one has informed me.

Bottom line the reserve system here sucks, schedulers (not all) attempt loop holes in the contract which aggravate and creates animosity between all. So dont preach "if you don't like your job then leave." Sick of hearing that cop out BS.
And before you get on that soap box of yours of the loopholes comment, I personally have 2 grievences advised by the Union of illegal assignments withn the last 3 weeks! Its absurd and unnecessary to even have to file this crap. Even AFTER I explained to various schedulers that it was illegal. Its all a game, contract and big picture at work, but some choose to look at black and white rather than big picture again creating mistrust and animosity.
After working at two other airlines. I know all about reserve system and how it works within its guidelines. I also worked as dispatch and flt ops at a legacy carrier. Does reserve suck in all places...yes...but at least it made sense at others. Here not case...schedulers have to work with what they have, I understand that, and for the most part all are good. But as there are pilots that create problems, there also are schedulers as well. So spare me the quit if you dont like it speech...we may not like what we have, and we are trying to change things but it takes time.

Yeah Im not In a union I dont negotiate my pay I have no say when an if I take a pay cut today.
Great I hope you do change it personally I hope it all changes. But dont attack me or my friends cause you only get paid so much for ready reserves. You voted not me. What can we do to make it better?
Animosity is between everyone at comair from schedulers to ramp agents.
Everyone complains but yet no one can come up with a fix.

Look you took that the wrong way. My issue with what i am paid for ready reserves is not with scheduling. I obviously know you have nothing to do with that and I do not think I implied that you do.
My issue with ready reserves is how you said you can give us readies at your discretion and it appears that scheduling uses their discretion a little too loosely at the expense of the pilot. Too many of us come in day after day and sit and do absolutely nothing. And too many times I have caught being giving a ready when there was another person junior to me that was available.
A lot of this problem I assume is not the fault of the schedulers in general but more due to their lack of knowledge of what we do since I understand many of them are new. Case in point when a scheduler tells me that "after you get in from your flight from QNY we have X assignment for you", almost fell out of my chair when I heard that one and goes to show that they do not have any idea what goes on outside the fish bowl.
