Comair updates?
Since the company is taking all recalls that accept the offer..even if the number that accepts is over the 22 they want..we should have coordinated with all the furloughees to say no when they received the "water testing" phone call.
So Comair calls down the list, and all the pilots say no. So they have no choice but to give letters to every single involuntary out there..and then we all say ok
Win!
Then Comair finally goes out of business and we're all put out of our misery.

Sorry to be off topic.. Just to give you all an idea how screwed up the industry is right now!
I'm a furloughed ASA pilot.. got a job with Comair in customer service while furloughed, was promoted to performance lead, we became regional elite, and now just found out I am probably loosing job #2 through being laid off from regional elite possibly pulling out of our station.
I really hope this all turns around soon! Sorry just venting!

I do not work at Comair but at the other wholly owned place. Who starts these rumors? I have been told a similar thing with an announcement expected by the end of the year. Personally I think Delta will shed all in-house regional flying. They just want to make money on the international and long haul domestic stuff. I hope I am wrong but I think the wholly owned are done for. One way to lower costs is just get rid of all your costs.
Actually much concern was raised about the LC-call in issues only it was ignored by the company. Not until ASAP was reinstated did the Feds get involved and "Magically" it received attention. By timing this did occur while more "Senior" people were getting reserve. The reason it was changed was ASAP, period. Not seniority pressure. Plenty of pressure was being applied before then, but the company refused to act, until they were forced.
The union tries to make improvements constantly. Unfortunately, until a contract is opened up for negotiations, not much can be changed. Unless there are Legal and/or Financial ramifications.
As far as the short line issues. The company would not agree to more days off for a short line, which is a big problem. Getting a 65 hour line with 11 days off is worthless. Besides no one would be getting recalled now if they had that flexibility in the schedule. The 82 hour min is driving the recalls. Can't build enough lines, forces so much unproductive work onto the reserves = more reserve pilots needed (Recalls).
It's tough out there guys/gals. Keep your head up, it will and does turn around. The cycle continues. BTW - Not a senior guy here at all. 15 years 121, 3 airlines, FO on a RJ. Payin my dues.

There's not a lot of transparency between the union reps, management and union members. If that was the reason for rejecting the company's proposal for mitigation it wasn't disclosed and should have been. I personally don't find it to be a good enough reason, but I don't have the power to decide that. It should be a collective decision of our members. I think the union members (past and present) should definitely be questioning what's going on a little more and require some accountability.
I'm furloughed and have no intentions of returning. I'd like to keep my flight benefits though, so I have a vested interest in what the union is/isn't doing. I think we've reached the point of no return with regard to bypass options since we've already recalled involuntary furloughees that didn't get a bypass option. This needed to be addressed and resolved before the first pilot left the property vs. before the first pilot returned. It doesn't complicate recalls that much so I'm certain there's more to the story that's not being disclosed.

4Runner,,, you work for a company and they don't owe YOU anything, so if they call you back to go to work then you go, don't hide behind a certain organization and then complain that you are not getting what you want, quit if you can't take it so we who want to work will move up!!!!
And hey Davispm, thanks for wishing my termination from Comair. I'm kinda thinking you're either the company CP or the other guy that everyone likes. Wishing a fellow pilot gets fired...POS...And hey genius, if we had recall rights and I bypassed, you'd still move up as I wouldn't be accruing seniority so my choosing to bypass would have positive recourse for you. But you'd rather I got fired. I heard that pilots were their own worst enemy but you totally confirmed this. Good luck.
Nice...Hiding behind a certain organization? Don't want to work? ***? The only organization I'm hiding behind is my current job which I signed a contract for. I can get out with a 30 day notice but I'm a man and feel morally and professionally obligated to fulfill my obligation to my present employer. BTW, if I didn't wanna work, I'd still be collecting my Obama check and sitting out by my pool...I'm awaken every morning by the you know what call to prayer from a loudspeaker, I get dirty looks because of my skin color and I wouldn't be allowed here with an Israeli stamp in my passport. I haven't seen my family in 4 months or had a cold beer either...What I want is what every other airline has, recall rights.
