It was supposed to be a joke. I was more mocking it than showing support.

Default Anderson's replay

While on RR yesterday I decided to listen to the Anderson replay (i was really bored). He was talking about a petition to congress to close the Enron loop hole. He also stated that the oil futures have been de-regulated. Does anyone know what loophole he is referring to or what regulations are not in play anymore?

And my .02 on the matter, if you really want to stomp the speculators, pass and no BS energy policy in this country what would leave those scumbags holding contracts for oil at $145 and have it crash to $50-60 a barrel. We'll see how many of these types would be doing everything they could to get out of their 3 digit positions.

Only in a dream I guess.

I don't know specifics but i know that an oil futures trader does not have to put up anywhere NEAR the amount of money, compared to the monetary value of oil he's trading.

So if they're playing with 100,000 dollars of oil, they may only be putting up 10,000 of their own money, to control 100K of oil.

I read this on a CNN article somewhere, and this is the reason for the EASE of oil getting so high so quickly.

I know the oil futures (speculators) have been able to buy on margin, and run the price up to these rediculous levels. But I also thought most of this was being done in the UK where US regulation won't do a darn thing. But I've been trying to research what Anderson is talking about with this "loophole" and why I should petition the congress to pass what ever legislation that Delta wants passed.

I really don't think we're going to furlough..have you seen the JFK reserve status for the first?

There's ONE reservists all day that isn't used. They'll be a little fat (maybe), but I think we're still going to get that flying when Mesa loses the lawsuit. I think enough people are going to take COLAs anyways.

Th reductions in the block hours will be in effect or started until Sept. and gradually increases or should I say hours continue to reduce into Oct.. Thats when the we will see cola's and early out programs implemented. The reduction is very real unfortunately.
Things do always change however as of now, its not for the best. Comair is not immune to this sh!!ty industry as you notice just about EVERY airline cutting or furloughing.
