This morning at Concourse C I saw something quite interesting happen while I was doing my walkaround. Freedom was being pushed back and their tug disconnected but the plane just kept rolling backward. It finally stopped just short of the grass but ran over a taxiway light. The pilots said they both were hitting the brakes and nothing was happening until the Captain put on the emergency brake. They thought it was a total hydraulic failure. Does anyone know much about the ERJ to know if they have an e-brake or did they just forget to turn on the pumps??

Well I was in a little bit of shock as to why they were rolling backwards so I just stood there in amusement as the rampees were yelling at the plane! Then I laughed..ran in to tell my Captain and he laughed then we both went and stared at them for awhile. But..the taxiway light was hit by the left tires enough to make it fall over and bend in half. They somehow got stopped in time not to completely run over the base of the light though. But you might be right about the MEL. Haha!
