I know that there will be no bk now. I always knew if this ta passed that RAH would not file.
My point was to challenge certain people (the burn baby burn crowd ). Challenge them to "take the money and run". IOW, if they hate RAH so much, "take the money and run". Me? I'm a lifer, I've accepted it. My life doesn't revolve around aviation. I make my money elsewhere; this is insurance, stability etc.
If i hated RAH like them, I'd be gone.

While not required, a 4 yr degree is preferred at WN. 15 years ago was a whole different ballgame then now. With thousands of apps on file, they can be picky. Took me 6 years of applying, 2 degrees, and 3 job fairs to get into the hiring pool there now. Hoping for a class date soon so I can put the RAH nightmare behind me for good.
Sorry for the thread hijack....

You are correct. 15 years ago really was a whole different ballgame. I was hired at SWA a little over 15 years ago and my resume then would not get me hired today. Having said that the cracks are starting to show. Rocky is pretty open that they are concerned about filling classes in about 4-5 years.

So that rumor about SWA having "a class of 20 and only 10 showed up" is bull kaka? I thought so.

Maybe they went elsewhere? I recall one of my instructors at United said that he had seen a few guys turn down SWA to go to UAL. I'm not sure how true that is, but the notion made my sim partner and I raise an eye brow.

The latest intel shows 4,500 qualified applicants on file at SWA as of yesterday. My guess is those same applicants are on file at all of the big 4. With 2,000+ yearly retirements at the big 4 alone the applicant pool will drain fast. Even though the type rating is no longer required they are hiring type rated pilots almost exclusively right now. Rocky is on record saying they will be out of qualified and typed pilots in about 2 years which is why I believe within about 4 years the 1,000 TPIC requirement will be relaxed or removed. The landscape is changing fast in our favor.

I would. UAL, AA & Delta have far greater attrition through retirements in the next 20 years. Southwest has a much more junior workforce which translates into a much slower career progression. Plus the ability to fly a widebody which means less work for more pay.
