However, if anything gets cancelled you get squat. I was on a 4 day worth 24 hours in the fall, bunch of crap got cancelled. I sat in the PIT hotel for the last three days because the company told me I couldn't leave. I credited all of 8 hours for those 4 days I was on the trip.

Get back to me when you have that happen.

I am in disgust reading your quote. "but hey if you get reassigned they actually pay you for the reassign!!" like its some sort of great thing that we should be thankful for.
It sounds like you're flying way to much over guarantee. If you're that worried try flying less than 80 so the most you'll lose is a couple hours. Why would you want cancellation pay anyways? Then you will lose flying to some regional with worse pay, go bankrupt and have to start over.

Also, Republic doesn't have true cancellation pay, however if you are reassigned you are pay protected for the greater of originally scheduled block or actual reassignment... Still sucks though. And as far as staffing... my understanding is in March alone they hired 70 pilots, with yet more to come. Right now it seems the only plane they struggle to staff is the Q400.

Yes I'm new here. No it's not my first rodeo. I said to be fair... They could just reassign you and only pay you for what you fly instead of pay protect you for your entire pairing until you are back on your original trip. I'm guessing Republic is your only regional? Believe it or not there are worse places out there to work. And yes during Sandy I got stuck for 4 days and my trip became worthless. It sucks. That's why I said earlier that even with the reassignment it still sucks. So you can be disgusted all you want but I never intended for it to sound like I am defending the company.

One thing I really hate is that I can't bid a 75 hr max days off schedule. If I could then cancellation wouldn't matter to me. It does matter though. I'm starting to realize how far away we are from a new contract. Let's hope we get an industry standard contract sooner rather than later.

Take a look at the comparison chart i have given to one of the posters. Almost all regionals have cx pay and rigs. We dont ..i dont have a problem with losing flying or even shutting this place down if we dont get those. You either have another source of income or you are wh logging in here. Dont be the one selling your pilot group because tou drink the crystal palace koolaid...

I know these folks and disagree with your generalization and in fact find it offensive. You really don't know the Comair pilot group if you believe this. And yes. I have 10+ yrs at Comair and am damn proud of it.

I was hired by AWAC so I will most likely go with them, at least until 2015
