Telling a guy who just started class that HE is the problem is laughable. No, he wasn't involved for the last 8 years screwing around, that's all on you. Picking up OT is more detrimental to negotiations than the 15 new hires a month. Hell, we still have a negative number of pilot growth almost for a year running.

I am a relatively new hire FO at RAH and I find it comical that you insinuate I am the problem with why negotiations aren't going your way. I came to RAH because it was the best move for me and my family situation (still is, and I'm happy to be here). I am not thrilled about the contract and want it to be better just like the next guy, we are all on the same team.

What's so funny? It's the truth of the matter. The only leverage contractors have to increase pay, work rules, and benefits in aviation in the US today is if they can't entice workers to work for them. That's the only upward pressure on wages and benefits for the regionals. Although with respect to the wholly owned US/AA feeders that law of economics seems to not apply.

And then there's this. You had presumably a wide choice of airlines to choose from. I'm not going to attack you for choosing RAH. However you did come to an airline where there have been fruitless negotiations for eight years. And the only reason they're negotiating is because they have to to attract new hires. But hey, it's our fault and you've played no part in alleviating the pressure on them. Right?

Agreed. Because of all the information available on the internet people can really make an informed decision before hiring on. Management peeps aren't idiots. Hence their redoubled efforts to make this an enticing place. I wish the motives were more altruistic than that. I've been unusually chatty today so I'm going to slink back into observation mode only for awhile. I hope I'm wrong about the Toonsters and that we're voting on a worthy TA soon.

Im all for educating potential new hires so they can make the best possible decision. Attacking a pilot for his/her choice of airline is asinine. We dont know anyones circumstances or reasoning behind the decisions they make. Frankly its no ones business. Someone I know recently chose to work at RAH so he could be based at home and see his infant son as often as possible. Zero chance I could criticize that decision. Educating potential new hires is great and effective. That said, even rah is the right choice for some.

Well, since you're not reading this, I'll just state for the record that it's a distinct pleasure being on the "ignore" list of someone who so deeply lacks even a basic understanding of how an individual's selfish actions have consequences that drastically affect others.

A minor correction, I get 200%. I do not pick up open time. When the mood strikes me, I will pickup a call from crew sked and ask for 200%. I get it 25% of the time. Did that for a few months before the $15 was offered.
I work a different job when I can. If the company wants to pay me 350$ to work 5 hours, I am stupid enough to take it since my other job only pays 35-40$ an hour. But hey, you know it all including my situation and my responsibilities.
Insulting fellow pilots shows us how clever you really are congratulations

RAH is the worst place to be currently, apart from Envoy......
This place is going to do an Envoy soon (as in major attrition)!! Send all your enemies here. Revenge is a dish best served cold
The only good part is Crew sked has been giving me 200% on my day off. 8 hrs to fly a turn (block of 3 hrs). I feel bad about "helping" the company, but as an FO with a pathetic pay rate and no cancellation pay, I'll have to take it.

Guess what. You are part of the problem. A contract with cancellation pay gets farther away every time you step into an airplane on your day off. Pick up flying from other crew members if you need the money
