What is the potential pay off rate for the training contract. Isn’t it still like $30k prorated over a year? I hear that’s not exactly linear but it’s still a big contract. Does that come down faster for a person that might fly a lot. Let’s say 40-50 hrs a month?

prorated over a year in equal increments monthly. I think the amount may be different depending on which aircraft. Time flown does not change it.

Sorry guys but I'm confused to the training contract thing, I've never had to deal with it. Is this deducted from your monthly pay? I assume this is to cover the cost of the type rating training.

It is to cover the cost of the training contract. If you leave the company within the first year you will owe them the amount of the training contract prorated depending on how long you were with them.

From what I understand, many of these type ratings are great for people who fly as contract pilots so this slows people down from showing up to training then quitting right after to go do a different job or work as a contractor. There can possibly be companies that engage in shady practices to get pilots for that to which I’m pretty sure there’s a 12 month non-compete clause you have to sign also.

Not that I would want to, but what is the company’s stance on doing contract work on your days off?

Hey AA717,

No problem doing Part 91 contract flying, but we pay $1000 per extra day for the Excel, so it would have to be better than that for me to do extra somewhere else. Several of us have done Part 91 gigs on the side, including me, but our Company pays better now making other places really have to step up on contract pay.

Is that for PIC or SIC also gets that?

PIC-$1000/SIC-$750 extra day pay. Some super bonus days are $1500 PIC/$? SIC and Christmas and New Years last year were $2500 for a PIC. Sorry that I don’t have the special SIC bonus amounts.

HQ Visit
Hi B727DRVR,

My family and I are on vacation in North Carolina at the end of the month.
Is it frowned upon to stop by Kinston at Corporate HQ to personally hand in a resume and possibly get a face to face with a HR representative or Pilot Recruiter?

Thanks
