Quote: .....can ride in an FA jump in uniform.
IIRC this changed in the latest FOM. Unfortunately, I think only spirit pilots can now.
Quote: Spirit.Com go to the bottom of the page, look for OA Travel, get the verification code from your JS committee chair. List up to 72 hrs in advance, not less than 1. OA JS is by time of check in at the gate, can ride in an FA jump in uniform.
To add to this info, Spirit Airlines expects pilots of other airlines, with whom Spirit has a reciprocal jumpseat agreement, to list for a flight deck jumpseat online via www.spirit.com. Although listing at the gate should not be unreasonably refused fifteen (15) minutes before departure, online listing is preferred. Listing ahead of time does not guarantee the jumpseat for OAL pilots. Spirit Pilots have priority over any OAL pilot to occupy a jumpseat. The first OAL pilot to check in at the gate has priority over all other OAL pilots for the flightdeck jumpseat. If the jumpseat(s) are full, all listed OAL pilots will be put on the standby list for an available cabin seat.

Unfortunately, Non-Spirit Crewmembers can no longer occupy an F/A Jumpseat:

"Crewmembers of other airlines, including pilots and flight attendants, are not permitted to occupy an F/A Jumpseat under any circumstance." FOM 2.15, pg 2.31
Quote: Jason, any truth to the rumors of pilots working in scheduling?
Yes is true. I personally got called , on vac, for a JA trip by one of our instructors. I asked why he was calling, he said he was helping out. I of course decline the offer and went back to my vac.
Most airlines have a pilot working in the OCC 24/7. It's about time we grow up as an airline and provide the support system we need. I do not know about you, but I like the idea of having some support from the pilot side in the OCC.

This was not the intent of them helping out. JS sent out an email to all the instructors asking if anyone would like to come in and help "answering the phones and doing menial jobs."

Once they push through all the new schedulers they won't need a pilot in OCC. Besides, if they really wanted to show concern for our interests it would be a union rep giving his or her opinion when they try and screw over a new hire that doesn't know the contract.
The story I got was that one of these pilot working in scheduling started hassling a new hire on reserve because he refused to accept an assignment until his hotel was booked purely because just days prior he got to his overnight and had no hotel and ended up buying his own. The "scheduler" replied with "are you holding the company hostage?!!!"

If you aske me, the reservist had every right to request that. As far as I know, we are no longer offering relief from the CBA and providing a hotel is required by the CBA. He or she was simply making sure the company was abiding by the contract. In the amount of time it took for the "scheduler" to argue, an email request could have been sent to Hotel Connection requesting the reservation, which would have had to happen regardless. So, What was the point of arguing?

Just to be clear, are these line pilots working in scheduling, or the Riddle ground instructors?

If they're line pilots, are these the guys we want to walk a picket line with if it comes to that?
Line pilots and instructors for sure

To be more accurate said rsv pilot accepted the assignment and called the hotel to confirm his reservation and they didn't have one. He then called scheduling back and got a fellow pilot on the line. That's when he told the story of having to buy his own hotel the week before and that he wouldn't be going this time without a confirmed reservation. That's when the "scheduler" started getting irate. Absolutely unacceptable!!!!
We still have pilots in scheduling helping out after the company would not match our contract demands?!?!? WTH! The moment management didn't agree to the demands of the contract offer should be the moment we stop offering extra help.
