Quote: Would you be willing to give a break down of this? If I use the numbers on the APC pay scale page I'm looking at $60k 2nd year pay 767 before per diem. Am I missing something?
Pay on the 767 is strictly a function of how many days you're away from base, and there are many factors that go into that. I made $89k in my third year (not counting per diem), but I typically favor shorter trips and usually conflict bid training and vacations, although i did fly a few OT trips. A friend who flies OT when he can made more than $20k more than I did. Depends on your base, depends on your seniority, depends on if Scheduling blows up your trip or not. But the easy math is 4.85 hrs/credit every day you fly. Last time I checked, I think I was averaging 72 hours/credit per month. YMMV.

Quote: Do the pilots at Atlas a favor and at least call HR back and tell them you are no longer interested because you just started a new job. It will help make the point that retaining people is important because they aren't the only ones hiring anymore.
I plan to. I was traveling today but will return the call tomorrow.

Quote: It is a messed up system, but the end result is 2 years of loss of license at 60% pay, an optional 3rd year that is pretty cheap to buy and sick leave that accumulates at 3 days/month. Long term sick leave is not capped.

Note that the first 24 days of sick leave are at full pay, while the rest is at 50%.

And a note to newhires -- sign up for that third year right out of the box. Getting it later involves getting a medical exam and approval is not guaranteed.

Thank you for providing the info, 742

Quote: Using a 62 hour min guarantee, that's probably about right. But, I can't remember the last time I made guarantee. Most months are in the 72-75 hour range by default, at least in CVG. Remember, you're paid 4.85 hours for each 24 hours you're on the road. If you're out longer than 13 days, you'll break guarantee.

Beyond that, I picked up OT pretty aggressively last summer. I certainly didn't subject myself to being gone all month like some of my comrades, but a 7 day OT trip pays as much as a full month's regular pay (69.95 hours)... It adds up, and shows us that the company could easily pay us more for what we do.
Ok thanks! That makes sense. Are you always paid by the trip rig or only when your block hours are less than min guarantee?

How are OT trips calculated?

I assume the clock starts counting when you sign in for your trip at your base?

Also, is per diem paid for every hour you are on the trip?

I know I've seen it said before here but for review and clarity, how is reserve paid?

Clock starts when your trip starts on your schedule from your base. Many times you do not actually touch your base to start.

Perdiem and Trip Rig are paid by the hour for every hour you are away from base. On R2 (hotel reserve) it pays like a trip. On R1 (home reserve) rig time does not accrue, but you are home.

How are OT trips calculated?
You are paid the greater of total flight time for your trip, total rig for the trip, or your monthly guarantee. OT trips are calculated the same: greater of rig or flight time for trip, plus an additional premium; +2 hours for 1st OT day of month, +4 for 2nd, and +6 for each additional day after that.

There is another way you can make rig+12 (from the third day on) per day if the overtime extention is involuntary. I had heard this almost never happens but I have already seen it once in my two months on the line so far.

Great! Thanks for all the feedback.

Next thing I want to try to wrap my head around is vacation. How much do you get? What is the process for request and approval? And how is it paid?

Also, are there any circumstances where family can ride/travel on atlas flights?
