An airline to be proud of.. But dude its better than my regional. And the upgrade, Ulala..
Quote: Unbelievable!

I'm assuming the FO here is the same Director of Safety that told a recurrent class a while back that safety was NOT the #1 priority at Allegiant??

The story I heard went something like 'safety is maintained by determining acceptable levels of risk at differing levels of profitability.'

This is true, and a representative of the FAA was in the room.
Quote: To give you a simple answer, the CA does usually will tell our FAs to provide water and snack service.
That's good to hear, thanks for the clarification. But what's going on when the FAs do not hand out water after the 2 hr point in a tarmac delay? Is this a discretionary decision - the rules and policies read like it is mandatory? If there is a security or safety reason not to offer water looks like there could be an announcement explaining the reasoning. That's one of the biggest complaints passengers have is lack of adequate communication about what is going on.

I'm confused as to why it even happens, you'd think aircrew would want passengers to be happy as possible during the sweltering delay. It's not like the FAs are giving away their own personal water. The FAs don't do much of anything else during these delays, except play with their iphones and chitchat to one another. If no water is provided after 2 hours on tarmac who is to blame - FAs or the CA?
Right now, I'd be doing it

You don't wanna give this place ANY reason to even remember your name.
The PIE Captain that's standing in the unemployment line now- yeah, the only way they knew that guys name is because he had several of his pictures put up on "G4 Photo of the Week".

Even made the G4 2015 calendar is what he told me. Point is, this is the only way the company knew the guy. He never failed a ride or required retraining- and a couple of days ago they fire him over the phone with some HR chica that's probably never even been out to the airport.

Mind your P's & Q's boys. This management group takes no prisoners, and zero F's will be given about you and yours when it's YOU that returns for smoke or a CSD or tail compartment overheat, or...
You'd think the FAA would investigate. Launch to a closed airport and instead of diverting to another airport they burn gas to the point they HAVE to land at the closed airport?

There the current narrative. That's more than enough to require an FAA investigation.

This guy is just a scapegoat to scare the pilot group into the Company "groupthink." Don't deviate from the official line or you're gone.
With full knowledge of current issues, I have a question for G4 insiders:

Can a new hire hold PGD as a base? How about after that incredibly quick upgrade?
Lots of wrecked travel plans today. Passengers on these rescheduled flights were told to come back and try again the next day, except the passengers that had their flights canceled completely (no replacement flight was provided for them).

I don't know the specifics of the situation, but at outstations we've run out of water and ice before.

I would venture to say that 50% of the time I call operations on the radio (no ACARS on the -80) no one answers. At some outstations they literally never answer (think MYR and PBI). We've had flights take lengthy delays, because all the fuelers went home and they couldn't get gas.

The brilliance of g4 management planning. Bad for the pax, good for unity. Crew services was up to their old tricks again. Leaving messages on peoples phones, “You’ve been junior manned please call back to confirm”, on their days off no less. Great to see mostly everyone holding the line. More cancellations on the way. Lets get a good showing for Vegas baby!!
