The 18 day schedule is unpredictable but it does have some bidding preferences. You are given your schedule no later than the 15th of the month before. Expect 6-7 on with 3-5 off. Once a quarter they can, and will, schedule you for 8 days. The month of Feb is considered F1- March 1 for schedule purposes. The pay is attractive but it's a horrible schedule. New hires and recalls are placed on it until you bid off. I did ASAP.

I have no experience with the 15 day.

We have several non-US natives here but I don't know about the passport issue.

Add 10% to pay for overtime, holiday, etc.

If you have the time I'd seriously consider somewhere else. I spending every waking day looking to get out of here. $80k to wipe down fingerprints on a small jet just doesn't excite me anymore. And I expect upgrades to be around 20-25 years unless there is a mass exodus at the top. No retirement age and guys are working until they're 70, 75, and even 83. Lots of airplanes on order but no real net growth. It's a fit for some but I'd look carefully.

I wish the guys/gals wanting to leave would just do so. These are probably the same people who do a halfass job the rest of us are stuck fixing. NJA is the not the best place on the planet...no doubt, but until my plan is set, its it for now. By the way, that plan, is to not work for anyone else again. Maybe not even work...and I am in my 40's!

Some slack, I'm sure. I've picked up plenty of dirty airplanes. However, I still do the job I'm paid to do. I stock the galley per the FOM, I check all the drink dates, check the under seat drawers, restock the nuts, DOTS, and Tootsie rolls in the arm rests, clean the windows, clean the airshow screens, and wipe every other damn fingerprint off the glossy and gold surfaces in the cabin. I won't, however, touch the lav unless gloves are onboard. There's only four of us left out of our new hire class so obviously this place is becoming less attractive with age. I know it is for me.

I know guys that came back strictly for the schedule and commute and that's understandable. But those considering this place need to be aware that they're going to be an SIC for a long, long time. And don't think for a minute that you'll be swapping fleets anytime soon here. Almost every thing is in disposal so that means no bids. Welcome to the XL or Phenom for the next decade. I know this place is better than some but unless you really love the thought of vacuuming up pretzels in an XL for the next five presidential terms then look elsewhere. There's more money to be had for far less work and with many more days at home.

And I think our fan boys are deceiving only themselves. If we get to arbitration they're going to compare our pay and work rules to XO Jet, Flex, Shares, and Executive and not UA, AA, WN, or DL. I've got a better chance at a threesome with Angelina and Jennifer than we do at WN+1%. Worth has nothing to do with it and unfortunately we are far above our peers already. Our industry has historically paid based upon size as our current contract does and we're gong to be compared to like size operators. The reality is that we're already the best paid fractional pilots in the world and it'll be hard to point at guys driving equipment that carry more in fuel then we weight and demand their pay. I wish it could be but I just don't see it happening.

Incorrect on many points. 2 DA200 CA bids went up today. I have seen several guys in my fractionally short time here move fleets, to the 350, DA2000 etc.

People are moving airplanes if they wish, and they have the seniority...

The threesome reference is hilarious, and true. I totally agree with you. Should NJA pilots be paid swa + 1%? Absolutely, Yes. Will they? No way in f#^king hell!

You have the audacity to inject truth/reality into an APC pay discussion? Are you mad, Sir? Never challenge the greed/fantasy life of pilots, especially at APC.

I'd be willing to bet people fly at NJ simply for the reason it pays decently and ISN'T the Part 121 passenger rat race.

Ummm, OK. Let me guess. They were already Capts on something else.

I don't think it will take 20 years, but when they start making FOs (that have been stuck at FO) into Capts, then let everyone know. Like the ones approaching 10 years, with no upgrade in sight.

Ha! What are you smoking? Are you one of those management plants?

Yep, 2 DA2000 CA bids. And how many pilots are there? Chances those bids will go to displaced captains....certainly not someone like me, a 10 year FO stuck for eternity. Change airplanes? To a smaller airplane maybe?

I have military, GA and 121 background. Fractional life is the worst'; long trips, long days, crew rot. This job is for someone "just passing through", it's not a desireable career. There is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. When you've got 30 years and looking forward to retirement, you'll be flying the same trips you flew as a new hire and there is no retirement unless you managed to save enough in your 401K to live on.

If you're under 45 years old, go for the majors. If you're over 45 you're probably stuck. I suspect that Hansell wants to be the guy who busted the unions. It would behoove us all to have savings and a back-up plan. When we get locked out, we should thank Hansell for making us get a job with a future.

Who mentioned arbitration? No effing way this Section Six ends in arbitration. Mediation, yes. Arbitration is optional. Both sides have to agree, and I highly doubt NJASAP is dumb enough to agree to it. The company would love it, however.
