Quote: Someone came in here looking for advice on logging SIM time. Rick gave solid, industry-accepted practices. You then said he was being dramatic. Look. Nobody said logging it the way you have is going to cost you a job, but in this highly competitive market, details matter. If you think the instructors at Skywest or anywhere else have your future interests in mind you will be disappointed. What you CAN log and what you SHOULD log have always been vastly different things.
True. To each their own, really. It would surely be easier to do it the way Rick suggested and not have to explain anything. It would also look more professional.
Quote: Guys do you think that Mesa will lose the contract with United and Skywest will take over Houston with 175s ? I was considering to apply for Mesa because of the base but Skywest is a better place to work for sure. Thank you for any advise
All I know is what is publicly available information. SkyWest, Mesa and Republic were contracted to deliver 12 175s each in 2017. SkyWest has delivered 9. Republic has delivered 1. Mesa has delivered 0.

I have to believe there is a reason we keep the IAH base, and the only reason I can think of is increased flying for United.
Quote: Yes, May 20th that will happen, we will also get 20 175s for AA in DFW, new base there as well, plus the BOI and ATL base.
What happened to the SAN base? Lol. Rumor is that is 30 AA 175s, not 20. Why downsell Skywest? I will check back on May 20th, but I won't hold my breathe.
Quote: It's crazy how you just got hired in January with a R-ATP, and you're already looking at the majors. I hate to say it, but you're in for a rude awakening. Aeronautical university kids crack me up.
Wish I had done this, but then again, I was caught in the lost decade. I've had a few friends keep their apps up to date at majors when times were tough even. They got scooped up right away at places like US Airways when no one else wanted to go there. I have another acquaintance who will probably retire in the single digits at Delta if not number one.

...and now they're at AA laughing it up as the money rolls right in.
How can someone back out of a bid? I know they're being awarded right not. I'm a CRJ FO in ORD and I bid for ERJ FO starting next year just to see if I had a freeze. Turns out I have a two year seat lock. But the more I think about it, I'd like to stay on the CRJ. If they did award me the ERJ, can I back out? I think it's unlikely they'll give it to me. I bid for starting the ERJ 10/17, but my lock isn't done until 10/18. Thanks!

You won't be awarded it until your lock is up?

You can't. They used to allow that but it made the bidding and awards drag out forever because the coordinator had to get an acceptance from each awardee before she could fill their old position. Many people (like you) submitted "sport bids" (that's what they called it) just to see what they could hold.

I think the company chief is the final decision maker in the case of somebody who has a hardship (like family circumstances after the bid window closed).

But if you're locked, they probably won't award it. But the might if they need people.

Delete your bid? That should solve it

Yep, theoretically you won't be awarded until the month before your seat lock is up. With that said, if they're desperate they will overlook seat locks.
