In all seriousness, won't it kind of suck if they start boarding before we get there. Sometimes it takes 5 min to get from outside to the cockpit after a walk around if they already started boarding. I just don't like the idea of having to push past 30 people with bags on a jet bridge, just to stand 5 feet from the door and wait on a wheelchair. If they start boarding before we are at the jet, it really could make us rushed, or late.
If that's the case, wait in line. Never rush.

Sorry goose.

MY chief pilot. He's mine. However this particular case would be was mine.

I digress.

Go ahead board before I'm there... then we can deplane them all when the cockpit needs o2. Or my favorite a shutdown reset... that gives everyone a feel good. Honestly couldn't care less when they board. My routine doesn't change. It will suck more for the FAs.

It might be harder right now to get a call from JB than other places. We hire what 200-300 a year, others are 500-800. I personally have 5-8 friends that have retired from the military in the past year. They applied everywhere. They all got multiple interviews and offers, no call from JB.

This could be because other companies are calling everyone due to high numbers and JB with much lower numbers is harder to get a call.

Or, and I hope this is not the case, they didn't get called because the company is worried they will leave for someone else.

Or maybe they didn't get called because they know me.
Mil retirement was 2 years ago, SWA and JB are the only calls I've received. Glad I'm here and not there, but hiring in this industry is black magic, anybody who claims to understand it is full of shiz.

We need more vacation allocation

Second

We bid in rounds like every other major so the top guy does not get everything he wants.

Third

You move up in seniority
Oh! I move up in seniority? That sounds easy. Except I flew with one of the horrible 100 a few weeks ago, and he was only 9 years older than I am, so it's going to be a long road considering I'm a 1st year FO.

It's not me trying to be rude it's just a fact.
There are guys in lgb that are FOs that can't get summer vacations and they have been here like 10 years.

If you fix 1 and 2 way more guys will get good vacations but it still also depends on seniority.

So does BOS, JFK and FLL

Those 14yr FO's do pretty well. Make more $$ than a lot of our junior CAs. Work less. Seniority's a great thing if you can get it.

Yep. I'm a 13 yr FO and have 4 people ahead of me in base.....but being able to bid CKA trips is a beautiful thing.

Fixing vacation would add no less than 500 more pilots below you.
