How is the reserve system at JetBlue? Is there such thing as airport reserve? When on short call, can you see a list of who is getting called above you and kind of guess when you are next to be called? How often is long call utilized? Thanks!

One of the worst reserve systems, and don't expect scheduling to follow the rules, they will do whatever will benefit them and there is absolutely nothing you or the union can do about it... bend over and take it! And they wonder why everyone on reserve is so jaded and wants to get our of dodge... unless you live in base.

Reserve definitely can be improved...no airport reserve. You can see a list, but they use so many variables when selecting people for trips so it's really hard to predict when you're next up. As far as long call goes, they only use it when there's a ton of reserves, and it's a dead month with no open time. I'll say about 15% of your time will be long call..the rest is short call.

Looks like my experience on reserve here has been better than others. It depends on the base, but on the 190/BOS I usually get Long Call at least a couple times a month as long as staffing is good. I guess that could always change, but in the 5 months I've been on reserve, they've had plenty of coverage. This has also allowed me to swap my schedule around and get almost every weekend and holiday off. Your QOL on reserve obviously depends on where you are commuting from. Reserve is what you make of it.

Reserve is not simply "what you make of it". You forgot to mention that you don't know what your reserve period is until noon the day prior, and you can very well be assigned a 5am on call period on your 1st day of a reserve sequence so you have to commute in the day prior, losing one of your few precious days off.

It has happened to me, many times.

Overall, not a great system at all.

5am? They were gentle with you! I routinely see 0300 reports on day one and when you check the request page in Flica to see why your PM preference was ignored. There's always a big middle finger waiting on you.

Well commuting on reserve is never going to be a pleasurable experience. I guess I was beaten down too much at my last airline to think JetBlue's reserve system isn't terrible. I think United has min 10am start on day 1 on reserve and a 3 hour callout. That would be a nice improvement.

Not to mention get assigned an ORD turn with a midnight arrival on your last day which turns into a 2am+ check out due to delays and weather at times. Oh and if your originally scheduled flight gets delayed into your day off, you don't get jack $hit for extra pay. Got done at 4:30 AM once, not an extra penny.

Yup! Nothing like getting the 3am shift on day 1 of 6, then sitting around not doing squat until your last day and getting screwed and geting in past your last commute flight home!

Never fails!

Oh we just got a nice reminder email that the DRO (where your next days call time is found) doesn't really have to be out by noon. It's at the companies leisure because there's no consequence for THEM to be late. You try showing up late just once and see how they react though...
