Quote: JB went from approaching ALPA for furloughs/displacements to keeping the seniority list intact. A complete reversal. Even if they put all of us on 50 hour VIL lines they could save more money (which they have been hammering into our heads) by furloughing with all the associated employment costs. I think there's something else going on behind the scenes. If I'm wrong, which I hope, I'll buy beers for the next 20+ years

SWA is the only carrier in a position right now to buy anyone. 14 billion market cap compared to our 3 billion makes an easy buffet dinner for whoever they pretty much want outside the legacies.

If JB is doing this out of the goodness of their hearts I'll go back to being a 100% blue juicer but just trying to be factually informed right now. In any case Happy July 4th weekend. Drink some beers.
Spirit and Frontier would both have much smaller price tags than they did pre-covid.

They could purchase 49%.

In 20+ years you have your first two post both about SWA buying JetBlue. Also, you don’t come to this forum to be factually informed.

Explain why keeping 4100 pilots on property all of a sudden means JetBlue is getting bought, are we the only employees that work here? Maybe the gate agents getting early out means we are going to close up shop? Or the flight attendants maybe getting furloughed means fedex is going to buy us?

Maybe JetBlue and ALPA signed an NDA to finalize the language, and make sure that the company is legal bound to the snap backs. Cross the T’s dot the I’s?

Less is more. I came to this forum because it has the words "airline pilot" in it which I think could help yield some credible knowledge. Those other two sites seem to be clown shows. I mention SWA a lot as they're going to benefit immensely from this event. I'm pretty senior so don't want any merger as I'd lose a ton of relative seniority. Really just thinking out loud but a NDA and keeping everyone on the seniority list means something changed the company's plan within about a week. I hope you're right and they're planning on a quick VFR return but right now at JFK no one is flying. We're starting to move airplanes but we don't need anywhere near 4100 pilots. Half the group is out of landing currency.

I think they'd keep us on property just to make things simpler if there is a transaction with us having a CBA. I hope you're right about them getting the details correct and just taking some time to hash things out. If we're 6000+ strong in several years I'd be a happy camper. It's an interesting time in the industry so I decided to get on one site and see what chaps are saying, nothing more nothing less.

Also Trump rally tonight from South Dakota........

Here’s my conspiracy theory. I don’t think this is a merger scenario. I believe it’s going to involve parking the 190’s and possibly receiving deliveries of more 220’s. Those are big money items that can affect stock prices of multiple companies. An NDA would be appropriate.

They own Frontier 100%, for now. That is if they can get someone to buy them now after taking a government loan.

I think these are all plausible theory’s.

I think JB wants to be aggressive? But to do that we need bodies and infrastructure.

I don’t think we’re being bought.

It's possible you are correct. With Neeleman delaying Breezes start-up there could be some additional early delivery A220 slots available.

But... But... The words "parking the E190" or "accelerating A220 deliveries" would not likely be anywhere in an ALPA-JB LOA regarding no-furlough or credit caps etc.

Even if the LOA made minor changes to displacement language or otherwise, again, the specifics of fleet decisions would never need to be mentioned in that LOA.

I don't see fleet decisions being the reason for an NDA for this specific LOA.

My opinion of course.

I don't have any idea what, if anything, is happening beyond the obvious no-furlough/23A. But with another airline supposedly returning 60 JFK slots, LAX likely having significant gate space coming available and/or EWR having expansion opportunities, JB could well be on the hunt for resources to quickly fill out those voids.

As I said a few posts ago, Spirit and Frontier are much less expensive today than they were a few months ago, and there are significant portions of both airlines network that wouldn't fit well in the JB system that could be redeployed rapidly to fill out JFK and/or LAX and/or EWR. Both airlines would also rapidly grow JB's Florida franchise and add incremental relevance out West.

All just one dudes opinion, worth exactly what you paid for it, maybe less.

This is the scenario that I was starting to see as plausible. Something along these lines anyway. From my understanding, JB already tried to purchase Frontier once before. Anyway, something just seems off. Like someone mentioned before, I hope it’s more 220’s and not M/A.
