If someone wasn't hired yet or waiting for a class and would get a full 12 months of higher pay, I could see them feeling slighted. But why would you lock yourself into years of crappy pay, so that you could make a little more for 6-8 months?

Everyone knows first year pay sucks. When your paying student loans back and making peanuts it sucks bad. But I knew the pay when I started and planned accordingly. My other half always gets a kick when people say "Oh you must have lots of money being a pilot" There is a reason I have steered my kids away from this profession.

Didn't know about the August classes, but you are right for the June and July. Also 6/29 and 7/27 CRJ new hire classes.

My gut feel is there is some E175 flying that they know about and haven't announced. Had our joke of a pay package passed, I am sure they would've announced it the next day. We are just doing a ton of training for that plan. It could also be that we are doing a ton of training because we are losing so many pilots on that plane. Seems like people take that plane to get a training event. Some don't even make it out of training before they are hired somewhere from what I have heard.

You mean on the E175, guys just bailing with type rating?

I have heard all regionals are losing a lot if new hires through failure rates, not disclosing information and just bailing for something better.

That's not even counting the normal attrition rate of line pilots moving to green pastures or retiring. At this point you would think they would do anything in their power to keep their pilots happy now.

Many existing RJ CA's are going to 175 training and getting picked up shortly afterwards.

Many newhires are washing out for one reason or another, it's defiantly not the 98% pass rate anymore.

There's defiantly something brewing regarding the 175....

1/3 of the guys I fly with on the 175 have left, interviewed, or have an interview at a Legacy. I don't know why the number is greater on this plane versus the CRJ. Cue under wing comments...

The easier answer is that we are losing a ton from ORD (which is 175) to United. I know some that were in my new hire class that took the upgrade on the CRJ and were hired by legacy before they could make it out of IOE. Maybe we can start a rumor that it is because United wants to bring all 175 flying back to mainline!! (/sarcasm just in case anyone thought I was serious)

I wish United was on my list because they are hiring a ton of SW pilots right now.

I reckon Europe and Asia will start snapping up the 175 guys for the actual aircraft type.

Then there is the Middle East carriers, they would take them because of the weight category over 40 tons, they have a thing about that.

All the Ryanair and easyjet pilots in Europe end up there. Good salaries in China and the Middle East so can see why the 175 captains are bailing.

I would go with weight category as I mention below. Asia and the Mid East will only hire jet guys on aircraft over 30 tons at least.

They assume they must be better than turbo prop pilots and so forth, quite idiotic really.

Why is United not on your list?

I haven't met one guy going the expat route... No reason to the money isn't much greater than what they will get at a Legacy, plus everyone here I've flown with was an FO for 7-8 years with tons of time on the 700/900.
