Short answer: yes, they're pulling your gullible leg.
Eh, he was my instructor, so there was implied trust. But no more!

Sim instructors say some of the craziest stuff just to see if it will come back to then via a different channel. Life in a box.

The surface is a learning curve over ipad product.. I've come to grips with just keeping it in "Tablet" mode and only using the company apps, jepps, manuals ect... And it seems to be better then Apple if that's all you use it for.

I've been occasionally checking this thread & others on this forum, and finally signed up rather than continuing as a stalker.

I got into aviation 8+ years ago to get around easier & fulfill a lifelong dream, one thing led to another and I became a part-time CFI a few years ago, continuing to rack up hours & now nearing ATP minimums in my spare time. As I wrap up a full-time career in law enforcement in a couple years (retire @ 50yo) I decided to then pursue an airline career, and want to be well-prepared. SkyWest is my top choice, for a number of reasons.

So I'm spending the past year, and next couple, in research while I count down the retirement days; and again wanted to thank y'all for all of the insight here!
SKYW has a bunch of second career LEO's flying around, I always enjoyed flying with them. See you soon.

This, and how long to hold a line? How much would a one leg commute suck?

How long to hold a line? Maybe 3 months once you get in your domicile of choice. and a 1 leg commute would suck. How much it sucks depends on your perspective.
