It's well known that the 900 burn less fuel than the 175. No one is arguing that. The point was Delta buys the cheaper airplane and it so happens that the cheaper airplane burns less fuel. Bombardier is struggling to sell their airplanes so they're more willing to sell them at cheaper prices to get more out the door. Delta is taking advantage. Delta loves nothing more than a cheap airplane.

And I am not arguing that point... I was just pointing out the cheaper operating costs. Don't make me post a route map. lmfao.

maybe if you could post a CRJ-900 vs. E-175 route map that would be great.

I know air101 wanted to be the first to post this, and I wanted to ruin his day by beating him:

Here's the press release ahead of this morning's call:

SkyWest, Inc. Announces Second Quarter 2014 Results - WSJ.com

Lawsuit with Delta is finally settled. And JA said financial performance at SkyWest Airlines was slightly better than planned. 157 aircraft retirements scheduled by the end of 2015, but $20M invested in engines for CRJ200s.

Yikes! 56- 50 seat planes gone in the next 6 months and 101 gone in 2015. This is happening fast.

Does anyone know the proposed breakdown between SW, ASA, and XJT?

As of July 23 on the Expressjet side, it shows 27 ERJ and 4 CRJ by the end of 2014.

What is the thought on SkyWest's upgrade times in the future? I have an offer in hand with them, and I am about 99% sure that I am going to take it. However I am a bit concerned about their very top heavy seniority list, and the amount of supposed lifers there.

I know you're not supposed the chase the quick upgrade, but it would be nice to go somewhere where I know it won't take 7 years to upgrade. Any thoughts on future SKW movement?
There are quite a few aircraft being retired over the next 18 months. The earnings call today will probably put the number around 160. That will include Xjet of course, but SkyWest itself will shrink over the next few years so you have to factor that into your thinking. No one can give you a hard number. Plan on at least five years but it could go up to 10 of things go south. You just never know.

Forget the upgrade, the years spent on reserve will make you want to run head first into a running EMB120 prop. 7 years will be the minimum, future movement will be backwards as the 50s go away and airframe sizes increase. But come on over and find out for yourself, it's only days off of your life. Being in the top 10% means my schedule is pretty good, I expect that will change for the worse. SKYW management has jumped the shark, and while they may be better than the rest of the industry, it's still first place at the Special Olympics. I have multiple applications out, just waiting to bail!

Or... I simply don't care? A loss is a loss... we all knew they were going to post a loss over a week ago when they adjusted their Q2 outlook. The ExpressJet blame game must end, performance at SkyWest is just as bad.
