Current FOs on other equipment have a seat lock that will most likely curb their desire to fly an airplane with engines under the wings at Skywest. This means you might be off reserve faster than predicted. Many CRJ FOs are holding out for an upgrade of some sort and don't want to deal with seat locks and such. No way to predict your time on reserve since it's dependent on aircraft deliveries and contracts.

Current FOs aren't bidding it likely due to only two domiciles, very few routes and poor paying trips, and loss of Delta benefits. Eventually when any one of those three things improves current FOs will start bidding it. I live in a 175 domicile and I'll bid it myself once those things improve.
In my opinion a new hire taking the 175 will probably have a pretty turbulent time in terms of seniority. They may move up quick as new routes are added but current FOs aren't bidding it yet. Once current FOs start bidding it someone who was holding a line will see themselves moving further and further down each month.

You are correct in that FOs transitioning from one jet to another are transition seat locked for 24 months. FOs that are new hires in the Brasilia are transition seat locked for 24 months. Brasilia captains are transition seat locked for 18 months. All pilots for any training (upgrade, transition, or downgrade) are seat locked for 12 months.
Just depends on how many FOs think they'll have an upgrade opportunity within 12 months of beginning class.

7+ years and MSP upgrade looks like it is getting close. I will probably wait another year or so just to make sure I will never be forced to answer a call from CS. Plus after hearing what they are doing to MSP Captains with scheduling, I may wait even longer.

You mean working to get PIC time to get the heck out of there? Terrible.

And you're really annoying. Getting out of this regional hell is a goal of many pilots on here. Doing what is necessary (and being at SKW is a good airline to be at) to get out is what it's all about. I will gladly be 2 years senior at a major just because the other guy decided he didn't want to sit reserve and start collecting PIC time. To each their own but you don't have the right to b**ch about how crappy regionals are if you DECIDE you don't want to upgrade and get out ASAP.

I know this might be a shock....
Some people are unwilling to sell their soul for an upgrade, an extra 6-12 months or whatever you're talking about might be a huge improvement in QOL, especially a guy with a family.
Who are you to say who can complain about what? It's a screwed up system.
