New Guy question...........Do the US customs and border patrol agents at the pre-clearance in Montreal always act like complete d-bags to pilots?

In my experience I have found to Canadian border agents to be complete A holes with the exception of a few. Once inside Canada the people seem to be great and the U.S. agents on the way out are typically pretty good. They all live in the same city so that variable can be removed.
I don't know why they act like small jhonson Napoleons. Maybe because their vests are too tight or because their black rubber gloves numbs their hands for date night but, yes. They are mostly DB's

The ones in Halifax are great on both sides. Got the us agent to laugh when I told him my lobsters I bought in the airport to bring home for dinner were my emotional support animals. He asked if I got the special vests too. Some agents are horrible and some are "too happy" for even Canada. I like it better then Mexico where it depends how hungry they are is how they decide what food they are not going to let in. Had one captain not really think about it and get really nervous when he had his vanilla milkshake protein powder in his own ziplock bags when they looked in his food bag and then had 4 agents standing all around him.

Call me completely ignorant but I do not understand this. You're saying that the E175 pilots are not allowed to jumpseat on their own airline? When I used to fly for a 135 operator that was allowed to jumpseat on virtually everybody? Can someone explain this process to me?

It's true.

Delta is a true pimp and will not allow SkyWest pilots (CRJ/Bro) who wish to not pay the DL annual non-rev fee attempt to 'bypass the system' by listing for the jump and getting a seat in the back. The 175 is UA only so these pilots are treated the same as someone who didn't pay the fee in the eyes of the Delta computers, it has something to do with the way the PPR#'s jive in the system apparently. Nobody wants to pay to get it fixed.

But, yes, it's total garbage.

Congratulations! Your percerverance paid off. You'll most likely be offered the 175 if the rumors are right.
