Why should they fix it? It's not their problem. It's for United 175s, why should they care? Just out of the goodness of their heart? ha

I'm not advocating a jumpseat war by any means, Skywest would lose. But if this isn't affecting their pilots, why should they fix it?

 

175 SKYW guys can Jumpseat on SKYW metal by simply calling the dispatcher and getting added to the release. Had to do this several times because I refused to pay for the benefits and there would be another guy in the same boat and the more senior would of course get priority but a simple call to the dispatcher and we both get on...

 

Because it is reciprocal. I think it should be fixed. Denying jumpseats however is the worst way to go about it imo. Clickboom thinks otherwise, let him go for it.

 

You obviously don't get it.

E175 guys here do not even have the option to pay for a delta ppr number since we do not fly delta flights on that particular aircraft.

For some reason, deltas computer will not allow these e175 guys to jumpseat even on Skywest operated flights. This is not a "just pay it" fix. This can only be fixed by the delta tech department doing a very simple code rerun in their computers that they have refused to do.

CCB is absolutely right here. It's a reciprocal agreement. However, at this time delta does not reciprocate and no one cares. It's been a wide spread problem for our 175 crews who commute to work. There's no jumpseat war here.

 

How else would you fix it rocky? Continue calling delta 4 times a day for years and years to get the same old answer of "we are working on it...."

Normally that's how it should work.

For some unknown reason to us it doesn't work like that.

The pilots who have had issues with Delta jumpseats are:

A) CRJ guys who have not paid for Delta non rev benefits. They are denied a cabin seat when listing for the jumpseat, as CCB stated above, because Delta's computer system requires a Delta PPR number to be assigned to a cabin seat. They can still sit in the cockpit but if the flight is less than full you will be bumped since they will not allow you to sit in the cabin without a PPR number. The only way to get a PPR number is to pay into the delta benefits. The notion you should have to pay into non rev benefits in order to be able to jumpseat is absurd.

B) ERJ pilots
These guys cannot jumpseat AT ALL-cabin or cockpit. They do not have the option to pay for Delta non rev benefits since the E175 does not operate under DCI at OO. From my understanding this is a separate glitch in Delta's computer system. It would be the equivalent of them denying an American Airlines pilot the jumpseat because of a computer glitch. Except they are denying pilots with a carrier that operates under Delta Connection the jumpseat. If this glitch was fixed then I would imagine the same issue that applies to CRJ pilots above would apply here.

Both issues are silly, and easy to fix. Our people department and SAPA have been calling Delta informing them it is a high priority for us (which apparently does loads of good.........). Deltas response is "we are working on it." The CrJ issue has been going on for five years. The ejet issue is new since it's been on property. It's obvious no one at Delta cares.

No problem. It's about run its course here anyways. Hopefully the Delta guys can be educated that it is a problem and help out. Getting IT at Delta to do anything is nearly impossible.

 

That one made me laugh out loud when I saw it today. Who is writing these bulletins? Clearly nobody who actually crews an aircraft.

According to the bulletin, you shouldn't request an entire bottle of water, but just a glass. So...in the middle of your flight, when you need another drink of water, you...

a) Go through the entire open-the-flight-deck-door procedure to ask for a glass of water

b) Sit there dehydrated, with obvious safety risks, or...

c) Ignore that bulletin and do what you've always done, take a bottle of water and stow it behind your seat, thereby staying safely hydrated for the entire trip.

Hmmmm....
