SNAP!
I thought that was pretty ridiculous as well. No regional pilots are getting "Snapped" up. What a crock!

So The carrier doesn't matter (delta, UAL, Alaska, etc. ) as long as it's a skywest flight correct?? I will be making the commute from COS to training and there are direct delta flights. Would like to do that but i couldn't during interview cause there were no UAL flights out of COS.

They're only going to deadhead you on UA flights. To go to training out of COS they'll likely send you COS-DEN-SLC on UAL. Once you get into CASS about two weeks into training you'll be able to take Delta back home direct.

Or just drive to DEN instead of trying to fly it...

CASS entry took 3 full weeks for our ground school class. I was able to jumpseat home on the last weekend before our systems exam.

How long does it take spouses to get in the system? If my wife wants to catch a flight two weeks into my training should I expect her to have the benefits in swing or would I be better off buying her a ticket now?

Each partner has different time frames for eligibility. AA is 6 month. I think 90-180days is about right for most partners.

The nonrev benefits on UA and DL are almost immediate. Note that you must pay for DL benefits ($100/yr even for yourself). However, remember that it's nonrev... And united is virtually always oversold. So wherever your wife is going, make sure you've got a backup plan. The one thing you don't want to do is plan on using nonrev benefits when you must be somewhere on a specific day.

AA benefits indeed take 6 months from hire. I can't remember the details on Alaska benefits but I believe they only apply to Skywest operated Alaska flights, which is a pretty small route network. Fortunately UA and DL fly almost everywhere.

Thank you... But you don't want to hear my thoughts on commuting to reserve and not getting a single call to fly, as is happening to me and a bunch of other guys. I joined to fly airplanes, not sit in a hotel room 19 days/month without flying. I have no idea how guys commute to reserve over the long term. The only flying I've done after training has been flying I've picked up on my off days by calling and asking to have it added. Definitely not a happy camper right now...
