Right because when SkyWest begins to furlough, all the CRJ pilots are on the chopping block before any "Mainline" 175 pilot...
And here I thought you were just starting to turn the corner.

Skywest just hit the 4000 pilot mark. Hopefully they will add a few more tomorrow before it goes down again. Good things are coming.

Sorry, I don't think they will furlough soon but with almost 100 airplanes coming to United alone to replace up to 50 percent of regional flying, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the future and how it will start To Hurt regional airlines soon. The koolaid will run dry, the unicorns will die off and reality will bite the lifers when the regional world gets slammed with RJs sent to the desert.

I thought you were going to drink more koolaid and toe the company line.

Skywest has never furloughed pilots. If and when Skywest shrinks, they would just stop hiring most likely.

They didn't furlough pilots because the Brasilia was properly staffed while the CRJ could have used the furloughs. Unfortunately a huge portion of the bottom of the list were Brasilia pilots and they would have had to furlough a bunch of Brasilia pilots and leave it understaffed in order to furlough enough CRJ pilots to matter.

It didn't make monetary sense to furlough and that's why they didn't furlough. It wasn't because they cared about the pilots well being.

I actually agree with you that UA is trying to greatly reduce their reliance on regional feed, which includes OO as is evident in the fact that our 700s aren't getting renewed. This means greater opportunities for much higher paying jobs at mainline carriers, which is a good thing overall for the profession.
OTOH, This doesn't mean the skies are about to begin falling at SkyWest as you continuously allude to in your posts.

They have also never had one of their biggest partners come to them and say "hey, just a heads up, but in a few years we will be taking our flying back". Unchartered territory lies ahead.

I agree. The sky isn't falling. But I fly with so many guys here in SFO that say they don't want to leave because they have it "so good" and I shake my head. Most of them don't even know the DL and UA mainline plan and have their heads firmly planted up their.###. I will be upgrading if I can and moving on asap before the inevitable shrink.
